SSG-Kalle 10 Posted December 4, 2009 I tried playing Arma 2 tonight with two steeringwheels (logitech/microsoft) in hope that it would make driving a nicer expericence. However i couldnt get it to turn, all the buttons and throttle and break worked fine but it made no diffrence how much i turned the wheel. Any suggestions how to make this work? cross 1 Posted December 5, 2009 set your steering wheel to use; car more left car more right they don't have auto centering so should be preferred for wheel use.
SSG-Kalle 10 Posted December 5, 2009 Thank you! Do you know how to fix the deadspace in the controller that make you have to turn the wheel alot before you get any type of response?
cross 1 Posted December 5, 2009 there is a setting in the game options. It is for infantry, for waist movement but it may work for the wheel as well. Give it a try.
Ish 11 Posted December 5, 2009 I don't think it does.. This has been up several times.. Might work with über old wheels, but i have the G25 with 900 degrees of turning.. And I've got 90 degrees of dead-zone in both directions. But if you as me, there is no need for a wheel unless you are a tank driver or similar in your (if you're in one?) clan. ZeosPantera 0 Posted December 5, 2009 I use my wheel for controlling vehicles. It does have a very bad deadzone. I need to play with the settings a bit more. And I only use it for wheeled vehicles. I use my joystick and joy throttle for tracked vehicles. I also have my gas pedal assigned to run which is great when the 3K run to a town is needed my finger doesn't go numb. SSG-Kalle 10 Posted December 6, 2009 Im already using the pedals from my wheel when im flying helicopter and airplanes to complement my joystick. The reson i want the wheel to work is to get a better realistic fealing when driving around. The keyboard just doesnt give thesame feeling. :) So if anyone can give me a tip on how to decrease the deadzone, i would be most greatful. :)
Winchester Delta_1 0 Posted January 21, 2010 Time to open up this topic again... I have the same problem as you guy's. The deadzone in the vehicels are very bad. Evrything els works realy fine.. but when i try to go around corners and such i have to turn 90 degrees for it to respond. And i can never get it straight back again in time.. SO i keep going from left to right zigzagging. Somebody has a solution for this? Or some hint on how to make it work better?
Mysteryman5150 10 Posted January 21, 2010 From what I can tell the steering controls are not analog (like the thrust control option in aircraft or the turn head using trackIR) therefore it is like an on/off switch, the longer you hold the button the more the wheel turns. When you turn the wheel it doesn't turn in game until you reach the activation point on your wheel recognized by the game, hence the dead zone. That is just what I noticed when I tried using the Logitech Driving Force Pro, so I gave up on it and went back to the gamepad for driving.
Winchester Delta_1 0 Posted January 24, 2010 Hmm okay..... But isn't there a simpel config fix for it? Or can it be made? I think it should be that way allready. And i'm surprised they didn't fix it yet. Is there a place where ic an report this? Or is this the right place?
11aTony 0 Posted January 28, 2010 So I was just playing nfs with MOMO Racing wheel and wanted to know how it works in Arma2. In options, controls there is controller button. I click on that and I see Logitech MOMO Racing... USB. Then I click "custom or customize (not sure)" button. There I see I can set deadzone for both pedals and wheel. So I maxed the bars out and it works great. I drove a hummwv around a bit and it was pretty cool. Its just it goes a bit slow (93 or so max).
Winchester Delta_1 0 Posted February 1, 2010 Thanks for the tip. I just tested it. It helps a little. But not much. Atleast for my logitech formula force wheel. But o well... I will use the steering wheel peddals as rudder. Works great that way.
kuIoodporny 45 Posted February 11, 2011 (edited) Actually clunky driving wheel is an obvious design bug that seems to be connected either with OFP: Elite or A1 development. JCOVE did not had this bug AFAIK. fxEbI3yCGes Please vote for issue http://dev-heaven.net/issues/13242 and its relatives to get BIS attention on this. (reasonable digging out this time I hope ;P) Edited February 11, 2011 by zGuba
