Supah 0 Posted April 2, 2002 This is my problem: Whenever i play OFP after a while my PCstarts playing a siren like sound over the PC speaker. Its not loud just really annoying. If i close OFP down it stops instantly. Ive scanned for trojans/virusses and havent found any. I havent encountered this problem in any other games. I have recently installed a Creative Labs Suondblaster Live 5.1 and have been messing with the setup of that thing for a week now hoping to fix it through that. All to no avail. please help ....... as the Siren sound is pretty annoying (No more playing OFP at night as it wakes up the folks)

Mister Frag 0 Posted April 2, 2002 My guess is that the system is overheating, and that the siren you are hearing is the CPU temperature alarm from the BIOS. Access the setup for the BIOS (usually by pressing DEL or F2 during the Power-On Self Test), and turn off the CPU temperature alarm, or at least raise the permissible temperature. If that takes care of the problem, get a case fan or a better heatsink.
Supah 0 Posted April 2, 2002 I had the same on board card ..... mb thats the prob that its still active. might try that. Or the temperature thing. (i do have a heatsink, but not a clue what type it is)
Maniac777 0 Posted April 28, 2002 If its a "Ding" noise like the ones heard when some triggers are triggered then slide your music slider to the left
Random 0 Posted April 28, 2002 Yes, you should make sure you disable the onboard sound now that you have a new soundcard. It's a bit wierd that it only happens in OFP though.
