Dedicated Server Kicking Roommate

Recommended Posts

Hey there,

My room mate is running a dedicated server through art of war central. We were not having any problems until recently, but now me and him cannot play at the same time on the server. Whenever one of us tries to join with the other one in the game, it disconnects the other player and they cannot join back in. I have tried adding the 2302 port to both our firewall programs, opening the port on our router and restarting the server completely. No even changing the map fixes the issue. Does anyone have a possible solution, or an idea about what could be causing this?

Thanks in advance.

The only time this has happened to me is when myself and a friend were sharing an i.p. address. Make sure you dont have anything else hooked to the net at the same time. ie/ an xbox.

Note I live in Canada and use shaw cable and had to ask for 2 different addresses for this to stop happeneing.

You don't need to forward port 2302 (and the 3 ports above that) unless you plan on hosting. Also, it would be impossible to forward the same port to two different computers.

However, there is something misconfigured in your router. I've had the same problem before.

Yeah, i have already made sure we are not using the same IP....if we had the same IP, it would not let us connect out to the server anyways.

sorry about being slow in getting back onto this issue, i was out of town for the holidays.

do you mean to try the -port=23xx trigger when i start the game? do i just keep it at 2302? This is the current network setup i have:

Cable modem->linksys wrt54g->home computers. There are 4 total, 2 of which are used with ARMA 2. They both have their own separate copies, purchased via steam.

I believe that the server is seeing the IP address from the cable modem twice when we both try getting on the server, therefore kicking the person that was already on the server. Is there a setting in the server config files that allows you to have duplicate IP's on the server?

And how exactly you have 2 different external IPs with 1 modem?

try set this kickduplicate=1; to this kickduplicate=0;

no no no...i was saying that the server is seeing the same IP, from the modem, connecting twice. the 2 different IPs comment was in reference to inside the network.

i added the -port=2302 command to the start parameters on both machines, and was able to connect. But it has not been attempted since then...i will update this thread if the problem persists, and after i change the kickduplicate value

He's mentioned that they have seperate copies.

It's probably not the configuration of the game, but the configuration of the router causing problems. What brand and model router are you using? Custom firmware?

^^^ This worked for me. Same router, with a dedicated and 2 clients...all on separate PCs.
