twan 0 Posted November 21, 2009 Hey all! I'm trying to get into flying in ArmA and ACE, and I noticed that when I start in Harrier and set it to auto-hover, I see the nozzles point down, but when I increase the power, the nozzles start slowly pointing backwards and all I can do is a short takeoff, not a vertical takeoff. I thought I remember being able to take off vertically? Or is it my imagination? Any help would be appreciated, thanks!
celery 8 Posted November 21, 2009 The Harrier is purely a STOVL aircraft in the game because IRL it can't take off vertically with a reasonable weapons and fuel loadout. The small thrust nozzles aren't very powerful.
W0lle 1050 Posted November 21, 2009 §22) Use descriptive thread titles If you start a new thread, please make sure your thread title explains what you want without forcing people to read through your post first. Thread titles such as "How in the world do I...", "Need help!" or "Will we ever see..." are anything but descriptive. We do not allow these kind of titles and threads with such titles are subject to be closed. Harriers in ArmA are not VTOL capable as Celery said. Also this question surely has been asked already in the past.
