Restrict muzzle flash in Night Missions

Recommended Posts

Hi guys, i am a total noob and this is my first attempt at an Arma map, Ive been trying to make a PvP map, But i am totally lost. Ive read Mr Murrays tutorial on editing and found it very useful, however one questions if i could. Hope this doesnt sound too noobish.

Is there any way to restrict the muzzle flash when doing night/evening maps, I find the muzzle flash blinding and almost impossible to hit anyone on single shot let alone burst fire. So if possible I would love to be able to restrict it or turn the intensity of the muzzle flash down....is it possible?

Anyway, i love this site, what a resource for files/scripts and a wealth of knowledge from you guys.

cheers

That's a modding/config problem rather than a scripting one, I'm afraid. As rstratton says only way out in mission-making is to use silenced weapons to get rid of the big flash.

afaik the only way to not get muzzleflash is to use suppressed weapons

Only weapon without a muzzle flash is silenced pistols. Try it: Don't use NV goggles and shoot with silenced AKSU. There is muzzle flash. Not as big as without silencer, but still: There is.

The other option is to try for more ambient lighting so you dont need NV.

Searchlights, vehicle on fire, flares, fires etc.

Make a weather module and put

0 setovercast 0;

in the init. this looks really cool but means you dont really have any weather.

That doesn't change the fact that all silenced weapons except pistols causes muzzle fire when fired.

Much appreciated lads, using a silenced weapon might be a better idea and certainly a lot easier than trying to find a mod.

cheers all who replied
