thyro 10 Posted October 31, 2009 no problem!btw. that: Cannot open file 'addons\chernarus_data_layers.pbo' are you missing this file, or is it damaged? it was a case of some capital letters on the file name and the server was looking just to lower case file names. I still have some error messages now regarding sounds... kinda... "Cannot find a sound file ca\sounds\weapons\rockets\dry.wss" "Cannot find a sound file ca\weapons\data\sound\skoda_horn_v1.wss" now I can't see that dir structure on my windows machine/dvd to copy it to the linux server... Dr.Pulp 0 Posted October 31, 2009 these are files inside a pbo. got some similar errors...as long as the server runs fine...ignore them ;-)
thyro 10 Posted October 31, 2009 not sure if its all and dusted yet :) the server process is running, the log is "clean" apart from those messages (see bellow). number23 0 Posted October 31, 2009 Error report: Starting a dedicated server on my machine (Debian/XEN 3.1) takes around 20 minutes, everything else works in normal speed. (20 minutes between starting the binary and getting back "host identity created" in the log) Strace shows the application is calling gettimeofday() (and not much else) for these 20 minutes. Dr.Pulp 0 Posted October 31, 2009 All Servers who are not running in persistant mode and have no one playing show up as "creating" cause there is no mission running. if you got persistant mode on...someone must a least start a mission once in order to see something in serverbrowser. Dr.Pulp 0 Posted November 1, 2009 i think there is something wrong with your ca.pbo. Bad version 47 in p3d file 'ca\data\cl_basic.p3d' ca is the ca.pbo! \data\cl_basic.p3d and that is the location of a file inside the pbo. check you files...do they have the same size, etc. maybe it is damaged?! DFFChiel 10 Posted November 1, 2009 (edited) HI, Server works fine. no problems to install on a Centos 5.1, Still the Proc is 99.6% and a 54% memory usage. I have to tweak left and right some thinks but that is no isseu. BUT!!! I copied some editted MPmissions to my Linux server and found out that the IA is not moving, Tanks only fire the outside MG, IA is not aggresive to encounter. We have that NOT on standard missions. So it looks like all the move points are gone and their parameters like Battle or Stealth. By hosting a quick server local on the PC we don't have these problems. I miss something, like the incrementals of the edditing. Someone the same problems perhaps???? Thanks! DFFChiel Edited November 1, 2009 by DFFChiel
.kju 3244 Posted November 1, 2009 What is the performance of the mission. Login as admin and do #monitor 1. I assume you have very low FPS. This would mean your hardware is too slow for a2 (with AI?).
DFFChiel 10 Posted November 1, 2009 (edited) HI, Thanks for the reply. I monitored both our servers. One is an Pentium4 2.8 with 1GB mem. CENTOS 5.1 2.6.18-53.el5xen #1 SMP i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux SERVER LOAD: FPS 43 MEMORY 476MB OUT 61 KBPS IN 3 KBPS Now , I want to believe that this server is a little old, but was good enough to serv Arma1 and BF2. ========================================================= The other one is hosted by server4you and is a little better. Processor : 0 vendor_id : AuthenticAMD cpu family : 15 model : 107 model name : AMD Processor model unknown stepping : 2 cpu MHz : 2109.750 cache size : 512 KB 4GB MEM. CENTOS 5.0 2.6.18-92.1.10.el5 #1 SMP x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux SERVER LOAD: FPS 4 to 6 MEM 430 to 431 OUT 83KBPS IN 19 KBPS Now I can't believe I need more than that. We hosted a Windows dedi arma2 on the AMD64 on VPAR without problems. There must be something else as the standard missions like Civil War the AI is doing what they must do. But COOP missions we made or Downloaded like co12_hijack_rev.utes.pbo and co12_spetsgruppa_dracul_v1_5.chernarus.pbo don't run the AI scenario. They just stand and do nothing. I think this is not a hardware problem. Thanks DFFChiel Edited November 1, 2009 by DFFChiel
.kju 3244 Posted November 1, 2009 ERVER LOAD: FPS 4 to 6 MEM 430 to 431 OUT 83KBPS IN 19 KBPS Is quite low already. Ofc there can be very well a problem with the linux DS. However without more testing to pinpoint the source, it is hard to say.
DFFChiel 10 Posted November 1, 2009 Hi KJU, funny that the old P4 2.8 has a FPS of 43.:) But that doen't matter, same isseu. Seems to be we go back to the VPAR with Winblows. Pity. We have to wait, i'll guess more of you encounter or already have problems with downloaded COOP. Keep up the good work Unix4ever DFFChiel
{sf} astra 0 Posted November 1, 2009 (edited) Thanks for your reply, Dr.Pulp. The poblem was the server-binary itself. Downloaded it again and now it's working. je, that took me quite a while :D So, thanks again. Astra Edited November 1, 2009 by {SF} Astra
i0n0s 0 Posted November 1, 2009 Burning fires seem to have a very bad effect on server fps. [...] This counts for every kind of fires. Even the fire of destroyed vehicles. Server log: Error during evaluation of expression _color[i] in SmallFireF Error during evaluation of expression _color[i] in SecondaryExp The first one is for fires, the second one was created by destroyed vehicles. Dr.Pulp 0 Posted November 2, 2009 yesterday we played some hours coop missions on our server. At some point our server completly froze! everybody weas still connected, but the server didn't log anything anymore...nothing moved ingame and #monitor 1 stopped working too. restarting resolved it...but that was wierd! After that we played some Domination Mission...and the performance went downhill the longer we played. startet with 45-50 fps...and as we ended the server ran at 19-20 fps. _x_ 10 Posted November 2, 2009 After disconnecting while plaing a custom mission a slot was still being used accoding to the server browser. I tried reconnecting but I was stuck on "waiting for host." Other than the server fps issues the default Superpowers mission seems to be running fine. DFFChiel 10 Posted November 2, 2009 (edited) HI X, I agree that the default missions runs fine, but did you ever tried a COOP Downloaded one. I just want to know if you and I have the same IA problems. Just IA that do nothing than a little fire back without scenario. DFFChiel 10 Posted November 3, 2009 (edited) Hi, we tried now to install the server on a much heavier Node 64bits. The FPS is now 50 and memory 10 before starting a game. That sounds good, also in game between 45 and 50 wit 20mb mem. Lovely. Still on both 64bit nodes the server start in 5 minutes. On a simple P4 2.8 in 30 seconds. Still the AI is dumb, and is not moving or reacting in COOP. bj2020 10 Posted November 3, 2009 Thanks for your hard working. I have installed the server, the performance is lower then windows, CPU has 4 cores, but only 1 core working, after 10 minutes, then Server crashed, I have to kill the pid and restart server. I didn't post the message because many guyes has done that. I think your team has moved a big step even it's a alpha version, thanks again.
.kju 3244 Posted November 3, 2009 Does the server create dump files, I guess so. So you better provide BI with your server configuration files, dump files and rpt. maruk 80 Posted November 3, 2009 Updated Arma II Linux Server 1.04 Public Alpha Build 59923 is available now for download. Please post your feedback to this thread. Thank you again for your help with the testing of the Linux server platform for Arma II! Most important fixes and improvements: 1. Multicore (-cpuCount=N should have effect now, but it should work even without it) 2. Low FPS when there are some burning fires * there was an important FIX in this area, but it should be tested more 3. Multiple errors like: "colorCorrections" ppEffectAdjust [1, 0.8, -0.002, [0.0, 0.> Error position: <ppEffectAdjust [1, 0.8, -0.002, [0.0, 0.> Error Missing ; 4. No Errors like: Error during evaluation of expression _color in SmallFireF Cannot find a sound file ca\sounds\sfx\fire.wss
