PaulTom 10 Posted October 16, 2009 See that's what I am confused about...the system requirements say that Dual Core (Intel Pentium 4 3.0 GHz is what you need....which confuses me because Pentium 4 processors aren't dual core...
no use for a name 0 Posted October 16, 2009 (edited) yes, actually - the Pentium D is a dual core. They just weren't that popular because the Core 2 Duo's came out shortly after Edited October 16, 2009 by No Use For A Name
PaulTom 10 Posted October 16, 2009 Actually the Pentium D is a dual core processor based on the Pentium 4....it's part of the Pentium 4 Processor line. The Pentium 4 was the Pentium's last line of single core processors....
jeffroland 10 Posted October 16, 2009 Pentium 4 is only single core however the game doesn't require a dual core processor. they only say that because it's the norm now. Download the demo and try it, it can't hurt. I think your video card will be an issue though.
PaulTom 10 Posted October 16, 2009 What's wrong with my video card?
Raznor09 10 Posted October 16, 2009 id definitely say get a real good cpu. this game relies more on that then the video card.
Bulldogs 10 Posted October 16, 2009 Your vid card is a little lacking for Arma 2 as well. It'll run it, just not great, especially at higher resolutions.
harryohh 10 Posted October 16, 2009 (edited) What's wrong with my video card? It's very old. Your video card is rubbish. It's as big a problem as your CPU. Edited October 16, 2009 by harryohh

jeffroland 10 Posted October 16, 2009 What's wrong with my video card? Use http://www.videocardbenchmark.net/high_end_gpus.html as a basic guide to video card strength. Your ATI 9500 is wayyyyy down the list. It has about half the strength of the video card of my laptop. I get about 20 fps on average in ARMAII, medium settings. echo1 0 Posted October 16, 2009 What's wrong with my video card? It's ancient. Well below the minimum requirements.

Uglyboy 10 Posted October 17, 2009 I have a Pentium 4 @ 3.2ghz and a ATI x1650 pro and i can run arma 2 with all on normal, 100% fillrate, and 2600 view distance getting an average 20 fps
yanquis 10 Posted October 17, 2009 O_O wow, thats awesome to hear. it seems arma2 can run well on systems with much lower specs than a lot of people think, i guess because it is so incredibly intensive depending on what settings you use and the situation.
