jcdfield44 0 Posted October 7, 2009 (edited) Hi guys, Ive googled around for a solution but im not having any luck. Ive been playing arma 2 on vista 64 for a while and it ran really well. Ive switched to windows 7 (fresh install) the game runs better for most part apart from one massive flaw. I can go from having 40-50 fps and then look a tree and it all goes to hell. It also happens on all dense foilage. I have tried the latest beta patch but it hasnt changed it Ive also tried turning off HT and changing pre rendered frames to 0 Can anyone shed any light on the situation as it makes most of chernarus unplayable because there are so many trees? if it helps my specs are Intel Core i7 overclocked to 4.2ghz 6 gigs of ram 1x 4890 500 gig hdd I run the game in 1920 1200 Thanks in advance Jcdfield44 Edited October 7, 2009 by jcdfield44
kklownboy 43 Posted October 7, 2009 whats your viewdistance?
_Hurricane 0 Posted October 7, 2009 Try standard clocks on all your hardware.
jcdfield44 0 Posted October 7, 2009 I have tried different view distances - the problem seems to remain regardless of the view distance but I have it set about 1800. I just tried it with standard clocks and it made the problem worse, the frames dropped down to 10 while looking and trees.
kklownboy 43 Posted October 7, 2009 1900/1200 is kinda tuff on your card. So what are your settings in game? And are you using any CCC 3D settings(dont, should all be application settings)? There is a setting in your arma2.profile(what ever you use for your ingame name)sceneComplexity=; what number is there? some people say 160k is a good choice. Hi thanks for your reply I dont use any ccd settings, I use the 1900 1200 as i have a 24" monitor so anything else looks jaggy and 4890 should be able to handle it anyway. The number was 100000 for scenery complexity and im just gonna see if changed it has any effect Thanks for your reply regards jcdfield44 ---------- Post added at 06:24 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:17 PM ---------- Just tested it again with the 160k seems to make a slight improvement but i still loose 20+ fps when I look at a tree :(
Relemar 10 Posted October 7, 2009 Turn wait for vertical sync to ALWAYS OFF in your Catalayst control, worked a treat for me.
jcdfield44 0 Posted October 7, 2009 I am using Catalyst 9.9 64 bit for windows 7 but I cant see any option on how to disable v-sync through ccc
tcp 10 Posted October 7, 2009 Try PROPER projects Low Detail Plants, FPSHelper, or VF FPS Saver.
kklownboy 43 Posted October 7, 2009 you cant turn off Vysnc with Vista or win7 from the CCC for this game... Its a Bis ati issue... XP you can.The option is in "ALL" settings though. But you haven't said what your ingame settings are?
Bulldogs 10 Posted October 8, 2009 I had the same problem with Arma 1, I only avoided it by lowering shader detail (which doesn't really help here), try lowering video memory setting and texture settings.
