Tales_From_Topographic_Oceans 0 Posted March 27, 2002 I hate to start a new topic but I have a few issues I need help on. First, what's this Red Hammer Upgrade? I saw it in the store yesterday. It says it has the Russian missions or I guess you play from the Russian perspective. Is this true? Next, on the box it says it is an upgrade. Now, is this "upgrade" different than the patches from this site? I have V 1.46. I am afraid that if I install the "upgrade" from Red Hammer, it will install an older patch. Will my V 1.46 still be intact after installation? Second, is there still a problem with this Red Hammer release CD? Third, I am having a problem in the campaign, and I need a cheat to get through the mission. I am about in the 4th, 5th, or 6th mission in the campaign from the Cold War Crisis CD. The mission starts off with you lost in a forest, and you are separated from your squad. Problem: the objective is an extraction point about 1 mile away. I cannot get there without being shot by patrols and BMPs. Yes, it's loads of fun, but after the 20th try, I am ready to advance to the next mission. I have tried to run to jump from forest to forest and work my way down there but there are loads of patrols in the area. The idea is to sneak undetected but it's day and there are large open fields. What is the secret?
Dr Jekyll 0 Posted March 27, 2002 The Red Hammer pack contains both a russian campaign and the ultimate upgrade 3 (v1.3, old). It's worth the campaign though. I'm not aware of any problems with it... Look at the "OFP Missions" forum for help, it's been up dozens of times there (hint: go to provins, steal UAZ and pray while making a run for it)
ralphwiggum 6 Posted March 27, 2002 the problematic RedHammer CD was in North America, and it's full-version, not RedHammer upgrade Gold version. However, the faulty CDs have been recalled already.
Assault (CAN) 1 Posted March 27, 2002 For help you can go here: Avon's OFP FAQ It will answer any questions you have. If you want to beat the 'After Montinac' mission, do this: When you start out, run straight ahead for about 20m. You will find two dead U.S. soldiers. Grab some extra mags and make sure you take the LAW launcher. Move quickly. Reverse your direction and head towards the town. There is a BMP and some soldiers garding the town. Take out the BMP and the soldiers in the town and steal the UAZ that is there. Stay off the main roads unless you want to get blown to pieces by Soviet aircraft and armour. As the mission progresses you will get updated as to where you can be extracted. When you are given your destination, head there in the UAZ. Your final pick up pont is in the corner of some woods, don't approach it from the open, go through the forest. When you are close enough a cut scene will start: mission complete. If you are totaly sick of the mission and want to take the noobie way out, type: [shift]+[-] ((-) is on the numpad) and then type 'endmission' HTH Tyler
Major Fubar 0 Posted March 28, 2002 I still can't believe so many people have the same problem with After Monitgnac. It was tough, but I managed to do it after about6 or 7 attempts, and I didn't use the UAZ. Hell, I even managed to take down the chopper with a lucky LAW shot. . FIGJAM! dayglow 2 Posted March 28, 2002 Hey I was able to take down the Hind in the mission before, and now I'm lost in the forest by myself and the Hind is back, no fair. This is my second time throught he campaign and I remember this one being easier than the time I'm having now. There is a squad of Russians in the forest with me and they are shooting me to shit. I get one and the other gets me. Last time I stole the UAZ and if you take the road far east of the area you can actually circle around to the extraction point without any contact COLINMAN
PitViper 0 Posted March 28, 2002 I think it will install 1.30 over 1.46 if you install Red Hammer. Make sure you apply the 1.46 patch again after you install Red Hammer just to be sure
Random 0 Posted March 28, 2002 If you use the 'endmission' cheat, you will get three red Xs on your debrief. Too many of them and you get kicked out of the army. So be careful.
Tales_From_Topographic_Oceans 0 Posted March 28, 2002 I think we need a "cheat" around those Xs. I do not mean to be arrogant, but I, like many of you, are "seasoned" combat gamers. But this mission is very frustrating. The problem is that I do not have enough ammo to fend off the RED mosquitoes (3 clips of ammo), and my bazooka (you blokes call it what? Law Launcher??) has only one effing shot, and I have to contend with the BMP and that damned helicopter (that had a name too??) keeps killing me.
Tales_From_Topographic_Oceans 0 Posted March 28, 2002 Nope, I will give it one more shot. I am going to increase the time 4X and hide in the forest until dark

IGFs TopGun 1 Posted March 28, 2002 this mission for me was a sit and wait. I don't remember firing too many shots, that only would bring more soldiers Once you get to the edge of the woods, wait and look for the squad. You can also use bushes hide... I stayed going East into the next forest and just met up at the second extraction point.
Tales_From_Topographic_Oceans 0 Posted March 28, 2002 IGFs TopGun: You might be right about firing too many shots. I went east and came out of the woods with guns blazing. Before I knew it, there was hell to pay. The REDs descended upon me like flies on horse manure from all directions. There were just too many of those sons 'o' bitches to fend off with 3 clips, not to mention they were excellent marksmen. On top of that, the helicopter and the BMP were also giant pests that had to be destroyed for my survival. The helicopter reminded me of a giant, angry wasp. I made it 50 yards out of the woods before I was stopped dead in my tracks.
Tales_From_Topographic_Oceans 0 Posted April 2, 2002 As I was approaching a church (in game), I noticed it had a clock. I checked my watch, and it matched the time on the church. Very good. Next issue, it seems to me that the sun rises a little too early in the game. There appears to be a red sky around 4 AM. Not a big deal, bit it seems it get's light early. Last item, I have noticed that a few homes (buildings) that have been damaged during fighting become distorted when you approach them from various angles. To be specific, the roof pitches, walls and windows move at strange angles. I doubt I am the only one to notice this.
