mejoff 10 Posted September 26, 2009 I've spent most of the day searching for this. Is there a way to turn off the floating aimzone in OFP the way you can in ARMA 1 and 2? I've played with it for years but I've got fed up with having to think completely differently about the controls in OFP to the rest of my games.
sanctuary 19 Posted September 26, 2009 In a mod main config, look for : class Man:Land or class Man: Land scroll down a bit you should see minGunTurn=xxx; maxGunTurn=xxx; Making the number closer to 0 should lower the floating aimzone range. In default OFP 1.96, the xxx numbers are : minGunTurn=-5; maxGunTurn=5; IF you want to disable it entirely, put : minGunTurn=0; maxGunTurn=0;
zulu1 145 Posted September 26, 2009 (edited) Sure there is goto: Options\Difficulty, then on Weapons CrossHairs click "Enabled" and it turns to "Disabled". But now you can only aim using the iron sight on the weapon, of course that is what us vetern players are use to. :D Edited September 26, 2009 by Zulu1
mejoff 10 Posted September 27, 2009 (edited) Zulu, thanks but that's not quite the effect I was looking form the aimpoint still moves aroundm it's just harder to tell where it is. Sanctuary, Great, thanks. But I can't find that file in the 40k mod, which is kind of the important one for me right now >) Also, in ffur, where i have been able to find the config filem this only affects side to side movment, and doung the same to the gun elev sta makes the floating crosshair move more while the gun stays static. Gunter Severloh 4087 Posted September 27, 2009 (edited) this topic is a double post, i dont want to be a moderator here, but theres 2 topics basically asking the same thing, keep it to one topic,be sure to use search before posting. I hope you get your issue figured out. Edited September 27, 2009 by Gnter Severloh
mejoff 10 Posted September 27, 2009 (edited) Actually Gunter, that is simply not the case, we're asking about two very different issues here. One person is aking how to make the mouse move more smoothly on the screen, and the other is asking about stopping the mouse moving around the screen at all so the game plays more like a traditional fps. I have to admit to being quite offended that you think I'm stupid enough to ask a question that is one post before me, you'll notice if you actually read my post that I also say I have been searching all day for the answer. I'm also now rather pissed off that my question has been bumped to the bottom of a post about something else which will dramatically reduce the number of ansers i will get. Delete the config.bin copy you have put there earlier you don't need it anymore, and make sure the config.cpp is called like this, not "copy of config.cpp" or somethig approaching. Now you can edit this new config.cpp with a text editor 9- once you are finished launch CPP2BIN Select your modified config.cpp file. It will create a new config.bin. Delete the config.cpp now, and play wh40k with your modification Edited September 27, 2009 by Sanctuary
rellikki 7 Posted September 27, 2009 I'm also now rather pissed off that my question has been bumped to the bottom of a post about something else which will dramatically reduce the number of ansers i will get. I was also wondering that too, so I moved the posts back to its own thread. Must have been a misunderstanding from a other moderator.

If you think about it its the same technical issue to do with the mouse senstivity, and what Sanctuary has pointed out to you in a previous post.

If you think about it its the same technical issue to do with the mouse senstivity, and what Sanctuary has pointed out to you in a previous post. No, no it really really isn't. In ARMA and ARMA 2 there is a option to adjust or disable the floating aimzone. I was hoping to find a clever method for a similar effect in OFP. This has nothing whatsoever to do with mouse smoothing, or pixel accuracy, which would be issues with or without the floating aimzone. They are, as i have explained to you already, completely unrelated issues. Sanctuary has addressed my issue in the reply above and made no reference to resolution or mouse sensitivity because... guess what... they have nothing to do with my question. Nor in fact is this a troubleshooting issue or a bug. so I have no idea why it got moved from the general area. Edited September 27, 2009 by mejoff
