Relemar 10 Posted September 18, 2009 Why does Multiplayer run (and look) so bad for me? Everythings jagged, all my SP settings don't seem to be in effect and I get around 20fps. Q6600 3GHz 9800GTX+ 4GB RAM Single player runs a dream, MP however is like playing another game.
randir14 10 Posted September 18, 2009 Servers can force graphics settings, not sure if they can force AA off but if so that could be your problem. For me multiplayer only runs bad on coop servers with a huge view distance and grass forced on, along with a ton of AI. PvP runs great since there isn't any AI on the map. I've also noticed (not sure if it changed in 1.04) that FPS in single player is capped at 60, but for some reason in multiplayer it's capped at 30.
Steakslim 1 Posted September 18, 2009 MP is not capped at 30fps. I had that similar issue with Vista. I'm not sure what it was with Vista that caused it but switching to Windows 7 RC1 fixed that problem right away, for me at least, and remains so. Relemar, what settings are you trying to play at, and does every server you join, every mission you play on MP have the same performance? As mentioned some servers/missions can force graphical settings. I pretty much have the same specs as you so far from what you've posted and MP mostly plays fine for me. Relemar 10 Posted September 18, 2009 Just found a server, looked beautiful and ran beautiful. I think it was just a server issue or something.
diveplane 0 Posted September 18, 2009 imo with the new patch mp seams a little worse for me , no smooth ai movement with units or other clients , this needs to be addressed more in 1.05 patch
Steakslim 1 Posted September 18, 2009 Just found a server, looked beautiful and ran beautiful. I think it was just a server issue or something. Also remember some missions, especially ones customised for specific groups and clans, can be more hardware intensive, as they tend to include custom scripts and addons into their servers as well as other things, creating a heavier load on performance. Relemar 10 Posted September 20, 2009 fixed, 2.4GHz > 3.1GHz is the shiz.
tobmic 10 Posted September 20, 2009 normaly MP missions should run better then in SP. It depends how viewdistance and terraingrid are set on the server. Good thing on dedicated server is that it runs all the script and so on for you (am i right ???)
noubernou 77 Posted September 20, 2009 Careful on Domination servers, as later in the round there is a lot of garbage left over. I have noticed on some servers it can get very laggy just due to how much has gone on before.

noubernou 77 Posted September 20, 2009 thats actually not true Xeno made it that dead corpses remove after time and after you taken a city all enemy corpses / vehicles get removed Its not just dead corpses and stuff like that, but scripts that continue to execute for long periods of time. If the round lasts a couple hours and you are 5 or 6 objectives deep with 45-50 players it will bog down substantially.
