Kramxel 10 Posted August 28, 2009 I once had the incredible, marvelous, wonderful, (insert adjective here) experience: as I was being transfered by STF21, the UAV hit the helo as it was hovering! How's that for a one in a million situation? P.S: The UAV is quite useless in 1.3, you can only mark locations with it... you can't kill anything. Also it tends to crash/get shot after 10-15 min mission time... so my advice: use it as soon as you've been debriefed! Another note, if you locate the main camp with the UAV, and bomb the shit out of it with the arty support, 9/10 your helo won't go missing anymore.... Because when you board the helo the drop off menu appears immediately. So if you accidentally cancel it and then ask for the helo again, it will be an evacuation instead of a drop off (notice the dialog). After patch 1.3 this seems to be more or less solved. Especially if you use arty first like I suggested. It can still happen, but it's a lot less frequent. P.S: it's more convenient to use the APC when hunting for camps... just a tip. Sniperdoc 0 Posted September 1, 2009 Is the UAV of any use in the Razor Two mission? I tried using it to mark targets, but I get no results? It's not very clear as to what you can and can't do with it. Kind of the same with Helicopters and using the chopper in Razor Two to get from point A to point B. Just read in a long thread about Razor Two that you had to use the map view to set your destination... not very obvious at all and not show in instructions ANYWHERE. WhoCares 0 Posted September 1, 2009 (edited) Regarding the UAV in Razor 2, there is a Shilka that you can kill with it. Should make the travelling in the chopper more safe... There is another tank, but my UAV always crashed when the AI wanted to target it, so I stayed away from that one :j: Of course, you can also always use it to explore the map. I once used it to track the movement of a car driving north, eventually stopping at the northern camp. Alas, when I checked out (after going to Dressler and Marny before), there was just the usual gang there - I guess it was Bardak, but as there was quite some time in between i guess he moved on already... In Manhattan I used it to search the Chedaki main (easy) and satelite bases (not that easy). Regarding the chopper, as you found out, when calling it you can do this in the normal 'FPS-view' - you should be looking at some clear and level space when issueing the command (I use the keyboard sequence 0-8-1-1 to do so). As you said, the destination you give in the map view by point and click on the map when asked. But note that while travelling you can change that destination again by giving a new order (0-8-1-1 again) - e.g. you can assign a better landing zone or a completly different target. Note also that via the map you can call the chopper also to a different place further away and currently not visible to you.
