33BO11OF00 10 Posted August 21, 2009 :)Sorry about asking this but I want to know this. I'm just a beginner in OFP Editors. What are these filenames: Abel CAIN EDEN INTRO What is the .sqm , .paa. , .ext , .sqs files? Are the .PBO some type of packed mission files?
ProfTournesol 956 Posted August 21, 2009 Abel=>Malden CAIN=>Kolgujev EDEN=> Everon INTRO=> Desert island What is the .sqm => mission file format, created automatically when saving a mission .paa. => one of the texture file formats, allowing transparency .ext => description file format, to add some music, sounds, identities, titletexts etc. to the missions sqs files => OFP script file format (.sqf is function file format) Are the .PBO some type of packed mission files : yes and no, .pbo are packed addons and missions. zulu1 145 Posted August 21, 2009 What are these filenames: Abel = Malden Island CAIN = Kolgujev Island EDEN = Everon Island INTRO = Desert Island What is the .sqm , .paa. , .ext , .sqs files? .sqm = Main mission file you'll find in a compressed pbo mission. .paa = Is a picture file format OFP uses, mainly for textures and icons in the UI. .ext = The descrition.ext file is part of a mission where certain things stored. .sqs = This is a script file used for special features in missions. Are the .PBO some type of packed mission files? PBO is a packed file with or without compression, not only used for missions but addons as well. 33BO11OF00 10 Posted August 21, 2009 Check out my other forum also in this thread. It's called Image editors for OFP. Not related to OFP Info: My throat is very sore I have a nasty flu.
-martin- 10 Posted August 21, 2009 Abel=>MaldenCAIN=>Kolgujev EDEN=> Everon You know a long time ago I found something strange I dont know if it's true or not but these names are very similar to the bible both in terms of the island and in terms of the story line. EDEN (Garden of Eden) is the main island were it all begins and starts taking place (Everon). CAIN & ABEL the two borthers, the two island in game one is evil (Kolgujev) and the second is good (Malden). CAIN kills ABEL just like Kolgujev Attacks Malden in the game. Just thought I would write this before I forget it again :D EDIT: BIS always has some kind of easter eggs and mystery in their games, that makes them even more fun :)

33BO11OF00 10 Posted August 22, 2009 Additional Questions: a) Where can I find some info about mission editing? b) Where can I find some tools for editing missions?
-martin- 10 Posted August 22, 2009 (edited) a) Where can I find some info about mission editing? http://www.ofpec.com/ed_depot/index.php?action=list&cat=tu&type=me b) Where can I find some tools for editing missions? The only tools for basic mission editing you need is Mission Editor in the game. You can also download a .pbo tool to make your mission folder in to .pbo file/alternatively the game can do this for you if you select Save > Export to Singleplayer/Multiplayer Missions. You can also use a image editor such as Photoshop, Paint.net, Gimp to make pictures for your mission. There are also sound tool, scripting tools etc... on this site under "utilities" http://ofp.gamepark.cz/ Have fun :) Edited August 22, 2009 by -Martin-
33BO11OF00 10 Posted August 22, 2009 Thanks for the info martin. How can I open a made mission so I can see how it is coded? I mean all the mission files are inside those .PBO packs.
rellikki 7 Posted August 22, 2009 You can find PBO packers/unpackers from ofp.gamepark.cz utilities page: http://ofp.gamepark.cz/index.php?sekce=utilities I myself prefer the PBO Decryptor 1.5 by Amalfi. You could give it a try.
33BO11OF00 10 Posted August 22, 2009 Reliikki. Do you mean PBOX tool? I know it.
-martin- 10 Posted August 22, 2009 How can I open a made mission so I can see how it is coded? Use one of the .pbo tools on ofp.gamepark.cz to unpbo the mission, personally I would suggest using UnPbo as it is very simple to use for now but as you get more experienced it would be good to use Decryptor 1.5 by Amalfi as Rellikki said becaouse it dosent have such a big performance hit on your computer like UnPbo :) Then once you have the mission folder move it to your OFP users directory which is usually C:\program files\codemasters\operation flashpoint\users\your name\missions Then start mission editor, select "Load", choose the island the mission is on (each mission folder has an extencion .ABEL, .CAIN etc...) and select the mission name ;)

33BO11OF00 10 Posted August 27, 2009 New question about OFP Files: Where do I put folder which has a .intro text in it?
rellikki 7 Posted August 27, 2009 .intro means it's a mission designed for the Desert Island. Put it either in the SP/MP missions folder, or if you wish to edit it in the mission editor, in your username / missions folder.
33BO11OF00 10 Posted August 27, 2009 Hey. Thanks for the info Reliikki. Check out my other thread called: OPERATION FLASH POINT/GENERAL/FLASH POINT MUSIC
-martin- 10 Posted August 27, 2009 New question about OFP Files:Where do I put folder which has a .intro text in it? If its a folder or .pbo file with .into it's a mission for "desert island" you can use it in your missions, sp missions, user missions and mp missions folder. Most likely in SP missions :)
