Create a simple menu for the calling of artillery and air strikes

A suggestion for the next patch. A simple game menu for the calling of artillery or air strikes as per the one in VBS2.

I have tried the modules and scripting, but I regret that they are a bit beyond me!

VBS2 call for fire system is not exactly simple :D Afaik that's pretty much the real deal from the FOs point of view. If you're not a trained FO, you probably wouldn't give all those parameters to the FDC. More like, "374982, ASAP" :D :D And simple interfaces like that are relatively easy to make, and have been around in lots of formats since OFP days. My only problem with these have been too accurate and no flight time worth mentioning.

Not sure if you have seen the call artillery menu from version 1.23 in the real time editor interphase. It really is quite simple.

Do you have any suggestions regarding simple a artillery system that is currently available for Arma2 which does not require inserting scripting.

Not sure which one you mean. I don't have VBS2, but I was talking about the cal for fire menu, see picture:

Personally I don't see away around scripting, since a lot of options would depend on the mission at hand. Sometimes you want to limit ammo, somtimes you don't. Or limit some of the ammo (i.e. 'copperheads'). Or you might want to have no fire zones into civilian areas where FDC will refuse to shoot etc. You might also want to control who gets access, i.e. squad leaders using a simple menu, or a forward observer with the full deal. It's a difference to me if an artillery system is support based, or if the artillery system is the mission. So again, I can't see a way without scripting that will allow me to change all of this on the fly.

What he means is this, which is pretty easy to use indeed but is all scripted as well.

I doubt that it will be included in ArmA2 anytime soon. However a talented scripter surely would be able to do this I guess.

Doesn't using sarin shells constitute a warcrime? (referring to the screenshot)
