AV-8B wreck on start?

Recommended Posts

hi, i want a harrier wreck to be on the ground, preferably burning with an AI soldier OUT of the wreck, alive.

basically, doing a behind enemy lines where the harrier gets shot down, and the pilots on his own.

I need an alive pilot, and a harrier jet (AV8B wreck) thanks.

Place a pilot on the ground. Next to him: an empty Harrier. In the planes initline you write

this setDamage 1

(don't place the pilot too close or he will be injured by the resulting explosion)

Sounds like you're wanting to do some tricky stuff without knowing all the basics first. I'd recommend getting cpbo or similar so you can open mission pbo files, and seeing how the authors did it there. You'll learn a lot by looking at other people's missions.

Change the damage slider on the pilot to the desired level.

Or use

this setdamage 0.3

0 being healthy and 1 being dead.

Another thing you can do is throw in one of the normal parachutes and name it para. Then put pilot moveindriver para. That way he will start off as if he ejected. Granted if he was mean't to have crash landed then this wouldn't be a good option.

Note: If moveindriver doesn't work try moveingunner, moveincommander or moveincargo.

You could also try setting the plane to flying and using the this setdamage 1 comand on it. That way it will start out in the air and then crash. Actually you don't even have to use setdamage 1 if you do it that way just do setdamage .9 and the collision with the ground should blow it up.

Is it dammage or damage now? In ofp it used to be dammage but now I can never remember.

Both spellings are valid... thanks to our English-impaired devs. ;)

Like they said. What your asking is not simple to write down just like that.

Did you read Mr.Murray's Editing Guide? It covers about everything apart from some new things of ARMA2. The guide was made for ArmA1 but covers about 95% of ARMA2 as well. The modules are not in it for example. But using the camera and making intros i believe is there. Also like the guys said you can open up a mission that have an intro inside and check.

Making an intro requires you to use the camera.sqs command i think, and then click the mouse button to set reference points etc (how the camera should move or something like that). I dont know how to do it tbh and to me it seems terrifying. :D But thats just me.

Yes, it does seem terrifying. i think im just gonna have some fun :) no stress.

cheers, just looking for a 'patrol' script so the russian forces come across the Huey wreck and then theres a firefight.

basically, russian base nearby, with armored squads, and infantry + a few m1-24 recon helis, and russian AA shot down a Huey and the americans are going to resuce them :)

thanks for guide!! wait, theres already a mission like that haha

Directly from the guide i mentioned:

"This chapter contains some hard Stuff. Camera scripting is not as easy as it seems to be,

but the result can be compared with a Hollywood movie. Special features like intro´s,

outro´s and some sequences while running the mission are quite necessary tools to better

understand the characters and/or the storyline. Explaining everything about cam

scripting would ï¬ll a whole book, so I will only explain the most important things here so

that you will be able to create your own scenes"

Good luck mate! :)

EDIT: Mr.Murray is working on a shiny new ARMA2 guide! Stay tuned for that one. ;)

my mission is quite funny already

And that's the secret ingredient in all good missions. If you like it, chances are better than average that other's will like it too. I believe that's the reson there are som many downed pilot missions out there. I've made a couple myself, and I still enjoy the concept.
