I would think the Navy would still use it. They aren't on the Lloyd's Registry are they? Or insured by Lloyds....so I would think they would avoid Lloyd's assinine decision and still call their ships "she".
nordin dk 0 Posted March 20, 2002 This must be the most offtopic thing ever posted. Kudos!

DaCrytter 0 Posted March 20, 2002 Well thats just another example of going to ludicrous lengths to make things PC. Also It's not just ships that are called 'she'. Cars are often called she as well. I hope they don't decide to stop doing that as well. The person who thought this up is clearly not a sailor.

Die Alive 0 Posted March 20, 2002 I met this guy who owned a "Port-O-Potty" business at a bar one night and he would refer to his port-o-potties as "she" or "her". Â He would say something like "She could hold up to 20 gallons of waste" or something to that effect. Â So after maybe 10 minutes of extensive discussion on these mobile out houses, I asked him why do you call them "she" or "her". Â His answer: I think of them like women because you just drop your load and then you leave. Â Fuckin' hilarious. -=Die Alive=-

An example, if you see some one who is limping badly, I'd call him a cripple. I see no shame in the word cripple, it's used in the Bible "Jesus healed the cripples." But it seems like now a word that was good enough for Jesus is just wrong for us to use. Fucking society and all it's rules. -=Die Alive=-
