PuFu 4600 Posted August 10, 2009 can we change zoom when holding left mouse button down? what?
lonck 0 Posted August 10, 2009 when looking through weap sights we can hold right mouse button to zoom further (alternatively we can press numpad +). I want to know how to change that zoom.
PuFu 4600 Posted August 10, 2009 I want to know how to change that zoom. to what? with what? please try to forget what you actually wanted to ask, then try reading your own question...Now, does it makes any sense to you? Because for me it DOESN'T
galzohar 31 Posted August 10, 2009 Only thing that can affect your FOV other than clicking the zoom in/out (or toggle zoom in/out) keys, is changing the FOV ("fovTop=..." and "fovLeft=...") in the <yourname>.arma2profile in my ...\my documents\Arma2\ folder. However that will change your FOV completely for anything when you're not looking through any kind of optics (these values have no effect on optics). In short, no, when you zoom it you can't decide how much it zooms.
lonck 0 Posted August 12, 2009 (edited) can I mod it though? I feel like you think I want to regulate I much I zoom in/out when looking through optics in-game. I know that if I keep right mouse button down it will go all the way, I know I can't stop half way. I want to mod the max zoom when looking through the gun optics. nomdeplume 0 Posted August 12, 2009 I think you're confusing people by using "left" and "right" interchangeably. :)
nominesine 0 Posted August 12, 2009 If you make a custom weapon addon you can set the zoom value for the optic sight of that particular weapon though. Apart from that: only a FOV change in the user profile can help you (as suggested above). Other zoom methods: Hold right mouse button (gives you weapons view zooming and hold breath) Numerical + (allows you to zoom in/out without holding your breath, can also be used even if you aren't looking through a scope) Double tap numerical + (locks your view in maximum zoom)
lonck 0 Posted August 12, 2009 (edited) Double tap numerical + (locks your view in maximum zoom) thats what I want to change: the max zoom when pressing the num + button. Apart from that: only a FOV change in the user profile can help you it doesn't. I tried it and it doesn't change max zoom, its just gives a lens type view. Like looking through a bottle or something like that. Edited August 12, 2009 by lonck
The_Angry_Canadian 10 Posted August 12, 2009 (edited) I use a TrackIR If I bring the sights up using the right mouse button ( left mouse fires in my case ) I can move my head forward and this will zoom in between fully unzoomed and the maximum zoom i can reach holding the right mouse button I dont know if it makes sense to you, but to me, it actually does. :coop: :681: Edited August 12, 2009 by The_Angry_Canadian i cant type correctly
nomdeplume 0 Posted August 12, 2009 Good point, Mr Angry. I use TrackIR as well which gives you a controllable variable zoom. If you have some other kind of analog control you could map that to the "Zoom in (continuous)" control in the game. The main problem is finding something convenient you can access while one hand is on the mouse and the other is on WASD.
The_Angry_Canadian 10 Posted August 12, 2009 Buy a set of rudder pedals and configured them has zoom/unzoom :bounce3:
lonck 0 Posted August 12, 2009 (edited) I want to mod the max zoom. As in change the game files. I want to know where that max zoom is stored, which files. Lol just watched a youtube vid on TrackIR. WTF u gotta move your head left or right to move camera in game, but wouldn't that make your eyes leave the screen? U would need to watch the screen with the corners of your eyes. That's gotta be annoying. Edited August 12, 2009 by lonck

U would need to watch the screen with the corners of your eyes. That's gotta be annoying. You juste move you head very lightly and the movment is amplified. Priceless when flying the A10 or other planes. You can follow the target in turns. But why would you mod the zoom ? would'nt that be like cheating ? You need the binos for that ;P
nominesine 0 Posted August 12, 2009 I tried (changing FOV) and it doesn't change max zoom, its just gives a lens type view. Like looking through a bottle or something like that. You are of course aware that to increse zoom you must lower the FOV setting, as opposed to raising it to a higher numerical value? And if you do zoom in by changing the FOV this way you will of course have a smaller field of view, as if you were looking through a lens. That's the whole point of it, isn't it? The game behaves exactly as any camera/binocular/telescopic sight/etc in the real world.

I already got god mode so doesn't really bother me. ---------- Post added at 04:12 PM ---------- Previous post was at 04:08 PM ---------- You are of course aware that to increse zoom you must lower the FOV setting, as opposed to raising it to a higher numerical value? I don't want that. I just want to want to know where is the zoom files file stored. the num + zoom that is. I've tried every other zoom and it messes the game. nominesine 0 Posted August 13, 2009 Okay. Now I see your problem. Didn't understand that part before. Unfortunately that makes it impossible to solve. Without scripting. But then it will be dependeant on an addon, or mission specific.
