Game skips/jumps

Recommended Posts

please help, I have a 1.9ghz P4, ATI Radeon 32mb DDR, 256mb PC133 Ram, Soundblaster Live! Digital 5.1, however, with what i think is a very good computer, since i spent 700 dollars to upgrade from my 350 PII, everything except the video card was upgraded. I have this extremly anoying problem where when i am playing, at the start up movie screen, where the russians are walking around the rusted vehicals. the game seems to skip or jump from one part to another, like the ground seems to move from place to place without actually moving, its like he is walking, and then he jumps foward in time and there is a gap that you see when this happens, again this is anoying, and after buying a top of the line processor, and realising it does this... is most anoying. I have had windows 98 on my computer and it did the same problem, i am not running windows Xp professinal with the same issue, no change, i have all the latest drivers for every peice of hardware on my computer, please help!!!

i may have restated this incorrectly, it may sound like it only does this at the startup screen, it does it at all startup screens, cutscenes, and while playing the game, it even skips when the laptop is opening.

I remember there being issues with some versions of the Radeon drivers that caused the ground and other textures to shift, but I'm not sure what version is required to fix this.

If you just installed the operating system from scratch as part of your system upgrade and used either the drivers that came with it or with the video card, I would suggest getting the latest drivers from ATI or a place like Guru3D.

Try contacting RN Malboeuf, who used to hang out in these forums, and who's a big fan of both OFP and ATI products.

You can e-mail him at [email protected] -- let him know I said "Hi".

ok i emailed him, also another thing is that when i am playing a high action mission, with lots of vehicals and gunfire going on, this doesnt happen, it only happens when there are one or few objects.

Another thing you should look into is whether your system is based on a VIA chipset -- if it is, make sure that you have the latest VIA 4-in-1 drivers installed, in particular the AGP miniport driver.

False alarm, Intel doesn't use VIA chipsets, they use their own.
