SF-Stone 0 Posted July 29, 2009 I recently purchased this video card, and now I can't seem to run Arma. I never get past a black loading screen. So if anyone else has had the problem or figured out how to fix it. Id greatly appreciate it. Thanks.
hamis 0 Posted July 29, 2009 Open arma.cfg and compare these values to your monitors supported ones: Resolution_W=1600; Resolution_H=1200; Resolution_Bpp=32; refresh=75; These are my values for 19" crt, check what your monitor supports and change accordingly in arma.cfg. Guest RKSL-Rock Posted July 30, 2009 Vista Home Premium 32 I've used the drivers from HIS tech and the ATI drivers. Are you runing on the latest patch? 1.14 or 1.16 Beta? Probably a silly question but Have you tried with the latest 9.7 Drivers from ATI? The only other thing i can think of is to delete or rename your arma.cfg file and see if it will find its own settings? Or maybe uninstall and reinstall it? Sorry but apart from that im out of ideas. :(

NutzMcKracken 17 Posted August 22, 2009 (edited) you mentioned using the HIS drivers.....are you using the HIS turbo utility? Dont enable turbo with ArmA, causes crazy stuff to happen...use the ATI overclocking utility instead embedded in Catalyst. Try uninstalling drivers completely, and even use the ATI driver uninstall utility, THEN, update to latest drivers (think 9.8 now). What video card were you using...if nVidia, then uninstall nVidia drivers before uninstalling ATI drivers...but still uninstall ATI and HIS/ATI drivers. Also make sure and install drivers with Administrator account EVEN though you maybe an admin....funky stuff happens then. Especially if you haven't used the "default" windows admin account at all in Vista and Windows 7! I really haven't noticed it so much with my ATI drivers (I run a HIS 3850 Turbo X), but I did notice issues with my Audigy 2 card and Teamspeak...especially running in 64bit! I personally run Windows 7 @ 64Bit w/ 4GB Sys RAM and 512MB Vid....smooth as glass with vid settings on high! If you have the ability, use Win 7 64Bit RTM (release 7600) and you can try it for 30days before buying it. Upgrades may still be available for Vista users. Personally I love it and had very little issues compared to Vista. Food for thought ;) EDIT: Also think there's a memory limitation problem with 1.14 and Vista....Beta patches supposedly fixed it maybe...but you need to limit how much video memory you can run....jsut noticed you have a 1GB card and maybe have over 2GB of system memory? 64-bit Windows Vista with 4GB RAM, black loading screen* Until either Bohemia Interactive, Microsoft or the Video Card producers come up with a solution, you can workaround this problem by limiting your System Memory to 3GB by a simple change of settings and a reboot: o Press windowskey+R, and run msconfig o At the boot tab, pick advanced options and put maximum memory to 3072 o Reboot o You can also revert the setting by above method to get your full 4GB back * More methods might be listed soon, together with a method to get a selection screen at system boot up to pick "Normal Operation" and "Limited to 3GB" * More info on boot parameters available below, in the section Edited August 22, 2009 by NutzMcKracken thought of something else
