agreed Apocal, I kind of like the new interface too. I really liked the portability of the WGL mortars though, and Frederf came up with what I was thinking of, CoC unified artillery.

very rareley you got to experiance a multiplayer game with everything 100% working if there is many addons inside.

Total bullshit. Join a team. I have been in teams that ran huge amounts of mods in ArmA and i cant remember any time that we had to stop because it didnt work. The reason to join a team or a league of some sort is because they usually have mission designers. These designers use the specific addons when they make the missions for the team, and so they are tested and proven to work. Otherwise that mission wouldnt be played.

If you enjoy addons (wich you should if you are playing this game) i encourage you to join a solid team where addons are used in a way you want. In fact most teams ive been involved in have had the same mindset. What i mean is that all of them has always been in favour of using all the well made addons, and that has always made the game shine really bright when speaking of fun awesome gameplay. Add also that you are in a team and you all play and experience this together. Super combo. This is where ARMA is top notch. So stop the pub playing if you are into using addons as it will disapoint you a lot (the hint is in your nick...). Your just doing it the wrong way. Test playing ARMA2 the right way and youll be a much happier guy.

Sorry for sliding out of topic a bit.

On topic: If an addon was made where more interaction between players was needed to land the shells properly - i would use it instantly. The more interaction is needed between players, the more fun it is. :) And as an addon it becomes optional for everyone to use it. Perfect.

Voted 'yes' but i have my mixed feelings.

Somehow i agree a lot of players just prefure the current artillery module. On the other hand, a decent arti module like CoC or even better the upgrade version of CoC in VBS1 was imho like a dream that came trough. Still find it sad there isn't a VBS2 arti module.

The guys of CoC did a very good job on that priece of scripting, not sure if BIS have the resources and data that went into that. My only hope is BIS buys the module, but i think this isn't possible in many ways.

Personally i didn't found it that hard to fill in the settings...at least it felt realistic and opened a lot more options (timed and coordinated attacks with multiple types of ammo). Good times!

PS: Just to make clear, i'm not taking about the actual gunning of the arti, just the forward observer stuff.

Had to vote no actually. I play as infantry and even a point & click interface works for calling the rounds. I couldn't care less about the numbers the FDC is dealing with. I want the rounds at my designated point, and I want them as fast as they can be delivered, but within a reasonable flight time naturally.

And if I'm actually gunning, I'd say the already builtin interface is sufficiant for my needs. It involves variable times for calculating it (irl: checking all the other factors the caller forgot to mention, like checking for known friendlies in the vicinity). As a gunner, I would be more interrested in being able to set the charge, and run a quick simulation of the shot against terrain if you want to get as low angle as possible for the best delivery times.

Dealing with numbers, don't know, just a bit too scientific for me I guess.

Edit: If I play as a forward observer, I would just like a more advanced interface for setting the 'call for fire' options, and maybe have the FDC override my wishes if need be (override stupid requests like DPICMs in woodland, cancelling if called to non target zones, smoke in rain etc). The one thing I would like though, at least for preciscion fires, is the need to designate your own position accurately, or using an already registered point and offsetting from there. But all this is not something for the poor soldier calling in for a quick mission.
