xPaveway 10 Posted July 19, 2009 So one thing that is really bugging me lately is the fact that when you're in a forest in the morning hours, if you're facing anywhere near the sun the whole scene will become very dark. I understand that this is trying to simulate how your eyes adjust to light/dark situations but I think this is way over done. The forrest literally becomes black and you can't see anything, making attacking while facing the sun near impossible. This is also related to the night vision problems. When in the cockpit of the MV-22 for example the MFD (Multi Function Displays aka the Cockpit Panels) are so bright that everything else becomes black while using night vision. Also when looking at the runway lights on the large airport. If you even so much as have the runway lights in view everything else becomes black. Same as streetlights and they aren't even that powerful. In my opinion this is really detrimental to the game when the brightness starts radically altering itself. Is there a way we can adjust this automatic brightness?? If not I hope it will be patched to at least tone it down a lot.
chaplainDMK 10 Posted July 19, 2009 Im not sure, but your eyes always adjust to light so if you are in a lighted place and you go into dark for a while you wont see shit (try at night, after you turn off the light try distinguishing anything). Looking at the sun will blind you. Try it...
xPaveway 10 Posted July 19, 2009 Yes I know that, but not if the sun is behind trees. I can understand it if you look DIRECTLY into the sun, but in reality even a morning or evening sun does not make you blind to all of your surroundings if you look at it. I could understand it if the effect wasn't as drastic as it is right now. Also: I understand how our eyes have to adjust, but one tiny light (ex: street lights or runway lights) in the distance does not suddely "dim" our vision. frederf 0 Posted July 20, 2009 HDR Lighting is usually grossly exaggerated in all video games it's in. It's what devs do to showcase the fact they have the effect at all.

ikkeii 10 Posted July 22, 2009 I will also comment on NVG. During the bitterchill mission, at night with NVG. Trying to zoom in your view the screen would blacken so that you can not see anything, it appears this was due to the stars in the night sky?
dayglow 2 Posted July 22, 2009 As much as GRAW did many things wrong, it probably had the best HDR lighting effects that I have seen.
hamis 0 Posted July 22, 2009 I will also comment on NVG. Take a look at Addons&Mods section.
AndrewCZ 10 Posted July 22, 2009 This is also related to the night vision problems. When in the cockpit of the MV-22 for example the MFD (Multi Function Displays aka the Cockpit Panels) are so bright that everything else becomes black while using night vision. Definitely should be fixed, whenever you use your NVGs, instrument backlight/brightness should lower so it doesn't interfere with your outside vision. You have to use a switch for that IRL, could be automatic here.
