What is Arma II really worth?

Recommended Posts

I just made an enquiry with VBS2 about their pricing, and VBS 2 has NO campaign that comes with it. Just the missions posted on their private board you get access to when you buy it.

Hello,

Thank you for that information. VBS2 Personal Edition is designed for your needs. Its price is USD 540.00 including postage and packing (This price is only correct if your country of residence is Canada).

If you wish to proceed with your purchase, we will send you a formal quote and End User License Agreement.

For your information VBS2 Personal Edition includes:

- US Army Units

- USMC Units

- ADF Units

- NZDF Units

- UK MoD Units

- USASOC Units

- CF Units

- Iraqi and Afghan Insurgents/Taliban and Civvies

- Generic OFPOR

- Mission Editor

- AAR

- Real Time Editor

- a number of terrain areas

- Development Suite (that allows you to design your own content (models and terrains))

LVC Game isn't included in VBS2 PE.

There's more information on VBS2 below at Armaholic:

If you have further questions, please let me know.

Regards,

Christian.

So for all you complainers who are squealing about what a rip off Arma II is because the Campaign is temporarily buggy, stop and look at what you're getting when you buy Arma II..

And I"m almost tempted to pop for it to get all those different real world terrain areas like in Afghanistan..

Go back and look at the mods and addons for OFP.

Go back and look at the mods and addons for Armed Assault.

Be patient.

Yeah, $540.00 is a lot of money to blow on a computer game..

hi cadmium.

VBS2 PE does not include any of the terrains you have linked to.. however with a bit of work most arma1 terrains will run well in the sim.

I stopped.

I looked.

It didn't help... the Campaign was still broken and I still feel ripped off.

Just 'cos a.n.other product gets a certain set of features doesn't make the abysmal state of ARMA2's co-op campaign (a feature listed on the box) any less relevant.

I've never seen such fanboi'ism as there is on these forums!

And being rude and negative will help? Your kind of attitude poisons the relationship between developer and user. Try and be more constructive, polite and positive.

That's a steep price to pay for adding a few maps. There will be many additional maps created for ArmA2. Even maps simply ported over from ArmA1,

(I tweeked the Avgani and Afgan Village maps and run them in ArmA2, somebody will port it over properly)

(the map titles are reversed in the clip, but you get the idea)

That's one of the things that makes ArmA brilliant. For under $50 you get pretty much unlimited expansion for free....

It's not been properly ported over to ArmA2 yet. I just used the latest ArmA1 version and added some files to get it to work. I don't think I'd suggest messing with it just yet unless you're familiar/comfortable with chasing a bunch of files and figuring out where to place them.

The map can be found on Armaholic.com (under the ArmA islands). You might search the forums here for some tips on getting it to work (there are several threads on the topic). It's not the simplest of maps to set up (the pbo's are all scattered into individual folders and will need to be moved around).
