BronzeEagle 2 Posted July 18, 2009 lol, you're joking right? i guess the best way to tell is to download the demo and see.
thr0tt 12 Posted July 18, 2009 Nope, not even close. It wont even show the menu im afraid.. Sorry! He's right you know. To date there is no known system that ArmA II is guaranteed to work on, it is all lucky dip. You could try the demo but that differs from the full game and proven that if the demo works you are not guaranteed to get the full game working. Its a design feature lucky dip processing engine. Good luck is all I can say.
ViperNL 10 Posted July 18, 2009 lol, you're joking right? i guess the best way to tell is to download the demo and see.Im not joking, your system is not only far far too slow, it lacks the features to even start the game and show the intro. Its just not a gaming pc.
Jimmy the Saint 10 Posted July 18, 2009 ViperNL's information is correct, you are not there. The game will not run on your system. I would not take the affort and the time to download the demo. You can find the minimum and recommended system requirements on the ArmAII website. Beside that, I would ignore the post of Thr0tt.
SimonSIx 0 Posted July 18, 2009 You can try ARMA II: The Flash Game

wams05 10 Posted July 19, 2009 Damn! I was looking forward to playing the game! Confused now about my next step? What if I upgraded! what hardware would I need to upgrade? Ive got an old packard bell ixtreme (OS ME) which I have not used for ages, well for years! If I were to build a new tower for gaming using old monitor and keyboard, what hardware would I need? ---------- Post added at 10:34 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:28 PM ---------- I tried to download demo thru arma2.com using steam then i clicked the very 1st on the list (armo2 demo) it took 45 mins to download once i installed, i tried to start the demo on desk top, it did not initiate, a small steam dialogue boxed open and closed in blink of an eye, i tried program files and the same thing happened as on the desktop. echo1 0 Posted July 19, 2009 (edited) You're better off posting this over in the system specs thread in the General section. But basically you'll need a CPU, motherboard, RAM, Power Supply Unit, a Case, disk drives and a graphics card. And a mouse if you are using only the old keyboard and screen :p What's your budget? Your best bet is to start from scratch and build yourself (or have someone build it for you) a proper gaming desktop. This can be done relatively cheaply and if you tell me what part of the world you are in I can definitely make some suggestions. Eth
wams05 10 Posted July 19, 2009 If I were to upgrade GFX card, which card would be suitable?
echo1 0 Posted July 19, 2009 (edited) Are you talking about your laptop or your old PC? Because you can't upgrade laptops or desktop computers that old... But if you're buying a new system, a Radeon HD4890 would be the best choice. Edited July 19, 2009 by echo1
bangtail 0 Posted July 19, 2009 If I were to upgrade GFX card, which card would be suitable? I doubt that'll help in an ME based machine. You'll need a new box. Eth
wams05 10 Posted July 19, 2009 I live in England. My budget Is rather short now that i spent £430 on new laptop. If I were to buy a new sytem with a Radeon HD4890, what would i expect to pay? and look for? or is should I shop around?
echo1 0 Posted July 19, 2009 (edited) If you were on a really tight budget, you'd be best off building your own one. But if that isn't an option, Scan.co.uk supposedly make some good ones. EDIT: Here's one. It comes with the HD4870, but you can upgrade to a HD4890 for £25, which is a pretty good price. If you want to save some money, you could chose to not get Windows with the system (Saving £80) and use the free Windows 7 RC until next March. In fact, I'd do this anyway, because spending money on Vista with W7 around the corner is a waste. Edited July 19, 2009 by echo1
