New motherboard - MP Lag

Recommended Posts

Hello to the devs and forum members,

I recently upgraded my system to a quad core to run ArmA2. I had to get a new motherboard to do so. However, since upgrading I now experience new, unforgivable lag in multiplayer whether I'm hosting or playing as a client.

All I can think of that's changed that would affect anything is my motherboard. It's a Gigabyte Technology EP43-DS3L.

My other specs are:

Intel Core 2 Quad CPU 2.8GHz

GeForce 8800 GTS

2GB RAM

Has anyone else experienced similar problems when upgrading for ArmA2? I'm guessing it's got something to do with network drivers etc?

Thanks,

Safety

Games in general benefit from high cpu clocks. If you have a dual core at 3.2GHz it may run the game far smoother than a quad at 2.8GHZ.

There are a lot of factors that could be causing this problem for you.

-Did you reformat windows?

-Does you motherboard have the latest bios for the given cpu

-What was your previous cpu and motherboard?

That's very important. Even being a P43 chipset.

You have the latest driver for the onboard nic, yes?

It should be at the manufacturers product page and you should have it, i just checked and it uses: Realtek 8111C chip (10/100/1000 Mbit).

Keep googling for possible problems or solutions and you might find something.

Ok thanks guys I'll look into it. However, it's not "lag" as in systems lag, it is strictly MP lag, yellow and red broken chains, running on the spot etc.

Me too - i7940 & ASUS Rampage 2 Extreme along with 6 gig of ram and nVidia GTX 285.

Might as well be a P2 and nVidia Gforce II.

ArmA MP however runs like a meth addict from the law.
