Can't see MY dedicated server! :(

Recommended Posts

I've been looking around the forum and can't find anything related so here's my problem,

I can't see my dedicated server in the master list/LAN/ or remote tab!

My second computer is the dedicated server and my first is the client. Everything as far as the server goes is PERFECT. My friends can join, random people can join off the master list and http://arma2.swec.se/server/ reports it up and running well. I just can't see it within my own network (and therefore I can't join and PLAY!). I'm not sure what the problem is. I'm on full DMZ mode so I should be fine as far as the router is concerned. Any suggestions guys? I'd take anything!

Thanks,

- Legato

Hi.

Maybe set your server as virtual server in your router. Start with default arma2 port UDP if not, change the port to another one. What router do you have, name and model.

Cheers

You need to take it out of DMZ and just forward the appropriate ports.

From my understanding (and trying this with my home server back with Arma 1), your other computers on the home network can't connect with the DMZ computer...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DMZ_(computing)

quote from that page

Some home routers refer to a DMZ host. A home router DMZ host is a host on the internal network that has all ports exposed, except those ports forwarded otherwise. By definition this is not a true DMZ (Demilitarized Zone), since it alone does not separate the host from the internal network. That is, the DMZ host is able to connect to hosts on the internal network, whereas hosts within a real DMZ are prevented from connecting with the internal network by a firewall that separates them, unless the firewall permits the connection. A firewall may allow this if a host on the internal network first requests a connection to the host within the DMZ.

I don't really know what all this means, it's just a problem I have had and had to take the above steps I mentioned to solve it.

Good luck!

If it is being hosted on your own network, it may not show up in the master server list for you, it may only show up under "LAN games" or whatever the LAN option is called, since it is on your local network. There probably is nothing wrong with your setup, especially if other people are joining, meaning it is showing up on their server list. =)

Thanks for the replies everyone! I got it FINALLY to show up on the list! The only problem remaining is now it WON'T let me join. It says, "Connecting failed" :(

Any more ideas?

Oh also for my router is the 3800HGV-B provided by AT&T.

Thanks for the help so far guys!

YAY! Mosh was absolutely correct, even if it's your client computer, you need to be OFF of DMZ mode to access your server inside your network. Thanks so much Mosh! and everyone else too!

Hope this helps someone else as well!
