Soliex 10 Posted July 13, 2009 No matter what I do or settings I try I cannot seem to get past 30 frames per second while playing multilayer. With my set up I am almost certain I should be somewhere in the range of 50-80fps, rather than mid 20's and sometimes high teens. Im using these launch parameters -winxp -nosplash -openal -noCB I have disabled phsyx on my Nvidia control panel. I've followed every single optimization guide there is. But im stuck with an almost unplayable game. I run most settings on high / very high. I have even tried slapping everything down to low / normal and I've only gotten around 30fps. Just wondering if there's anyone out there who is experiencing the same thing I am. MASP 10 Posted July 13, 2009 I have pretty much the same setup as you do and I get 22-28 fps on highest settings and resolution and 22-28 on lowest settings and resolution. No change no matter what I do. Something is wrong on Bi's end.
jake01 10 Posted July 13, 2009 Q6600 @ 2.7, 6GB DDR2800, GTX 295, same deal, 19-38 FPS in campaign mode no matter what setting, etc. Hopefully a patch will work it out, seems to be CPU related. Some report better performance on XP.
thr0tt 12 Posted July 13, 2009 Maybe the FPS reporting is wrong and in fact you are getting 100+fps :D ....nah, its reported elsewhere but wait for the 'why do you need more than xx fps' etc.
Soliex 10 Posted July 13, 2009 I know its not anywhere near where it should be, because when its down in the 20's it sure does feel like it. It dips down into the teens a lot as well. It's sluggish at best.
Major Eyeswater 0 Posted July 13, 2009 I get the problem too, like i've reported on the other thread about this. In MP severs such as the coop gametypes such as Domination, and CTI with grass on or off even when i look in the sky i get an fps cap of 33 fps and less. Where as if i play in a server which has the modes CTF or Hold with grass on or off my fps is not limited so if i look in the sky i get 50+fps. It appears that if the gametype has AI in the mission it caps your fps, where as if you just play pvp the fps is uncapped. Thats my conclusion to it anyway for my problem which sounds the same to yours.
-=seany=- 5 Posted July 13, 2009 (edited) Its not really a cap, AI will take up so much CPU it kills your FPS and you become CPU bottle necked. After looking at some test others have done, I did some testing of my own. Go into the editor with fraps and cheneraus(sp?). Now keep adding a group of AI infantry: Here are my results in a forested area, looking at the sky. The AI I added where on the other side of the map from me, far away. The number of AI in each squad is twelve. No AI -120Fps 1 Squad -120 2 Squads-120 4 Squads-110 5 Squads-93 6 Squads-75 7 Squads-62 8 Squads-52 16 Squads-33 24 " -33 32 " -30 38 " -29 (about what I get in MP) 54 " -28 62 " -27 78 " -24 >78 Squads is not worth going beyond, I'm looking at the sky so you can drop 15 fps more when terrain is in view. What I don't get is the MASSIVE drop between 5 squads and 16 squads. Once you get to 16 squads the frame rate drops by what you would expect for each additional squad added. In fact, the rate change was so small after 16 squads that I started adding 4, then 8 more squads each time for the later tests. Razorman 10 Posted July 13, 2009 Depends on the server settings on the map too, server sets graphics so no one can get an advantage by turning down settings themselves, view distance & grass etc.
ICE-Raver 10 Posted July 13, 2009 I average 25 - 50 with my rig with everything on normal and shadows/pp off. When I had shadows on I never broke 33 fps.
OverDawg 10 Posted July 13, 2009 i7 920 @ 3.3ghz, 6gb ram, 4870x2 (cat9.7b) For me the framerate isnt the issue. Have all settings on very high and fillrate 100% @ 1680x1050, FPS seems fine but the problem is, and its a big one, the almost constant stuttering during larger battles. Combined with the constant graphical glitches and texture flickering it really takes a big chunk out of the fun of an otherwise awesome game. Sorry only thing I can do is chime in
Gringo85 0 Posted July 23, 2009 (edited) Same here, when Im in Coop I get 33 highest, 28-30 Average, but when I'm in Hold I get lowest 45 in the city, country side last night my highest was 112 which is out of hand because I dont need that,(Country side average 60-80) the problem with the 30 FPS in Coop is that when you get to the city it will drop to low 20 and that's not good, for me a good FPS where you see everything smooth is past 30 and I'll be more than happy to at least be above 30 FPS, I hope they focus on this issue and patch it soon instead of going cosmetic first, I think perfromance should be fixed first and than the rest, also for the guys running the server please be aware of this too so for me I prefer going to Hold gametype now, even thou there's like 4 servers in the entire community but at least I play smooth with awesome graphics since I spent a lot of money to play this game at "deasent" full quality and btw do you guys feel like ArmA II was made a lilltle more PvP than Arma 1? I dont know but I bearly played PvP in Arma 1, the Coop was awesome, but in ArmA II the PvP ASS mod (In fact this is from BF2:PR Mod) it's great, but I think that might be the whole FPS/Performance/CPU issue that made me play more PvP but compare to the little PvP I played back in Arma 1, ArmA II's seems better to me. Getting back to the topic, we need BI to take a look at this, hopefully we get some fixes with AIs not taking that much CPU usage and causing us to drop FPS so drastically. My two cents.
