Flarmapoint 2 10 Posted July 10, 2009 (edited) Hey guys :) Can anyone tell me how to make transparent textures, and how i would apply them to a solider model in o2? It would be much apreciated :D Thanks F2 Edited July 10, 2009 by Flarmapoint
gms 0 Posted July 10, 2009 You need a Alpha Channel in _ca texture, where the black color is 100% transparent and the white color is 100% opacity. the Grey color is % opacity (depending on the brightness).
USSRsniper 0 Posted July 10, 2009 I create transparent textures by changing Opacity in Photoshop, with layer that has no background (grey and white checker board), no need to mess with alpha channel :)
soul_assassin 1750 Posted July 10, 2009 @USSRsniper the results are more predictable with an alpha map :) but indeed you can get more visual feedback with ur method.
acer1961 10 Posted July 11, 2009 Think of Alpha channels just like you would a stencil in real life. The 100% black parts are the holes in the stencil, the 100% white parts are the cardboard. When you have something between 100% and 100% white, say for example 50% black and white, this means the holes will be like putting something over the hole that you can partly see thru but not completely. DaSquade 0 Posted July 12, 2009 I might want to add by saying, it is best not to work with a transparent background AND alpha channel. You can but then you need to make sure that the border between the two layers (color and alpha channel) is 'covered'.
