121 10 Posted July 9, 2009 Ok, I'm new to PC gaming and I've just tried OPF goty for the first time today. I'm on the second single mission 'Ambush'. After many tries, I took out the first enemy base and went to the second one. Most of my squad was killed and it auto saved. It said something about waiting for a helicopter to rescue us at the beach. All of my squad went straight into the gun fight, totally out numbered and got killed and it asked me to return to base  After returning to the the base it says that the mission failed. I don't get what I'm supposed to do here. How do you kill the enemy without getting shot? I get down and crawl, move closer to the enemy soldiers and start shooting at them (with the right mouse button down to aim) but they just shoot me dead within seconds or throw a grenade at me. Maybe it's just the beer and I need more practice lol!
stgn 39 Posted July 9, 2009 Distance is your friend learn to shoot the rifle from a distance. Try not to engage more than one ennemy at a time, stay behind cover take one out at a time. Reload when you have time not when you run out of ammo. When you run alter direction and speed to be a deficult target. Get some glass so you can see futher away and easier plan your move. Move behind cover of hils. Practice!
Bizzie Bear 10 Posted July 9, 2009 Ah, the classic Ambush. :P In my opinion it's a rather dodgy mission; sometimes your squad gets slaughtered, but sometimes you're able to complete the mission without any significant problems (especially in Cadet mode). Try to move with your squad members (long live AI!), be accurate when shooting and if possible, obtain a RPG launcher from a fallen hostile soldier. It'll come in handy later when you're moving towards the town (based on my personal experience). If most of your squad is still alive after capturing the little farm west of the town, you have good chances to complete the mission. However, if most of your buddies are down, you're going to need a lot of luck - the town is full of hostiles as you surely know, and the situation gets worse later... Good luck with OPF! :)

33BO11OF00 10 Posted August 27, 2009 (edited) I can help some with aiming. In the field manual is a picture of a rifle reticule at the game screen. When you aim try to get that moving bar middle of that reticule then you can hit. Tell me if I'm wrong. That's the field manual says. The bar is looking like this : * | | * Edited August 27, 2009 by 33BO11OF00 Whoop :)
R0adki11 3949 Posted August 27, 2009 Don't use those sights they are less accurate. Use your iron sights, press "V" to bring them up. Also when firing your rifle make sure that you are crouched or lieing down as this will help you be much more accurate over longer distances.
33BO11OF00 10 Posted August 29, 2009 Sight for a M-60 machine gun is very accurate. That normal plus shape. Why it is not used in assault rifles?
