Master gamawa 0 Posted July 8, 2009 Hey I understand fine! But let's take it a step further. Dogs should have night vision or a sense of smell that visualizes footsteps on the ground. WOULDN'T THAT KICK ASS!? Also biting damage. And jumping. Dogs should jump. Because that is even more awesome than I thought it was! Especially since wind affects the way smoke/smell moves... dmarkwick 261 Posted July 8, 2009 Hee hee :D The addon is a lot better now (that vid is a week or so old), and the dog can terrorize nearby units into cowardly action and terrible aiming, and can also pacify by injuring or otherwise putting down the enemy. Especially since wind affects the way smoke/smell moves... The "smells" are only visible to the dog, and only visible up close. More so if you're downwind. The trails left behind are again only visible to the dog, and have an even closer visibility distance, to give the dog some amount of searching :) Each unit emits a different unique smell, made up of two colours to give hues and more unique combinations. It's pretty difficult to hide from JTD Tracker Dog, on the other hand it's possible to confuse him by doubling back, using undergrowth etc, just like real life. You can switch between handler & dog at will, and while tracking the handler will follow the dog at a discrete distance at all times. The dog can suddenly dash and terrorize the enemy, which makes the dog rather difficult to hit, allowing the dog to get in & "pacify" the enemy :) However, if hit the dog is very easily killed. The addon is mainly intended for non-battlefield situations, tracking escaped prisoners or downed pilots say. Or even rescuing friendly units captured by kidnappers. I read it once, and while it was not english literature it was more then adequate to get the point accross! @DMarwick - wow nice mod! Definately could have some fun uses when playing PvP, as you said downed pilot, escaped prisoner etc.. What happens to the scent smell when a player enters vehicles?
