Making weapons

Hi,

im new to modelling in ARMA and was wondering if theres a guide on the best way to make new weapons or modifications to existing weapons basically theres quite a few additions that id like to make to weapons in arma but i dot know where to start.

simplest example would be id like to add drum magazines for the base AK47 because it does accept them in RL. any help would be awesome.

1. Model the weapon by your any 3d software eg.3dsmax,maya,blender etc.

2. Set the UVWmap

3. Render Shader Baker the map

4. Photoshop the last map in both default/highlight/bump(normal) channels

5. export the mesh and maps in 3ds and TGA format

6. Use O2PE to import and edit the model, then just vist the BI wiki

I would like to ask it, that the skins how you prepare it? There is template somewhere file? May not be with Photoshop because they are not the layers. It is not possible to prepare pattern so. Would somebody be able to give a description?Or to help?

I don't know if it's possible to get a UV render of any of the models in ArmA 2 yet. What one would do is either export the model to a 3rd party 3d program and use those tools. Or, you can use O2 to show the UV space, take a screenshot, then edit that image in photoshop. You would find the 0 to 1, 0 to 1 UV grid and crop the image around that, then set up the image's aspect ratio to the way you want it.

Is there somewhere a real step by step tutorial for creating a new weapon? I mean, the 3d model part with oxygen, etc. seems to be easy but as soon as it comes to the config file, I am totally off and have no clue what to do and so on. I already looked at some user made weapons for ArmA1 and I also looked at some of the ArmA2 weapons by using ArmAunbin for getting the config files, but still... I have absolutly no clue how I can get a new weapon into the game. My first target was to just clone a gun and reinclude it with a different name, but damn... not easy for the first time.
