MattG666 10 Posted July 6, 2009 I have searched various places for system requirements for this game but I can't find a consistent consensus. So, what ARE the requirements? This may also be the wrong spot to ask, my apologies: Can my pc run it effectively enough to be playable? (I don't mind scaling graphics, more interested in having it run smoothly) AMD Athlon 64 x2, 4000 (or 4400 I can't remember ) 1 Gig RAM ATI Radeon x850 Platinum Overclocked I was allready unable to run CoD World at War because I had the wrong shader I think (screen was always black), but Cod4 works extremely well. Like I said, I know this game will take a lot more to run that CoD games, but I am willing to sacrifice most of the fancy effects and whatnot to get a smooth framerate. Is this possible? cartier90 0 Posted July 6, 2009 Not sure bout some of your specs buy 1GB RAM wont cut it. 2 minimum. Your card is pre Cambrian - you need a new one.
Relemar 10 Posted July 6, 2009 i cannot even run it on a PC which is probably 3 times as powerful as yours, take that into consideration. MORE RAM, better graphics card. im not to sure about your CPU, i dont do amd - sorry.
JDNA_reggie 10 Posted July 6, 2009 A friend of mine is running it on an E2140 C2D 1.6ghz, 2 GB of G.skill, and an 8600GT w/ all settings as low as possible w/ view distance at 1200 and at 1440X900 resolution and gets by around 20-25 FPS from what I saw last night. It is playable..not pretty, but playable. Any lower spec than that, and you will be thoroughly dissapointed.
S@rge 10 Posted July 6, 2009 Yeah you need pixel shader 3 and your card has 2. 1gb ram isnt enough (ram is cheap these days), im not sure about your cpu. Hoak in another thread has pointed out that you should use a 32bit os, xp seems to be working best, i have a dated system running xp and i can play on normal settings: Core Duo E6600 2gb ram (low latency xms) X1950XT 512mb ---------- Post added at 06:01 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:00 PM ---------- My view distance is 1600, res 1440x900. I'm fairly sure that this rig would not be able to run ArmA 2 smoothly on any settings.
MattG666 10 Posted July 7, 2009 lol ok point taken. Is it possible to build a machine powerful enough for something like this that doesn't cost a fortune? Seems like buying the second best of everything will save you tonnes and still be quite viable.
Eclipse4349 0 Posted July 7, 2009 The best thing you could do is to download the ARMA2 demo from Steam, or elsewhere. If you can run that, the full version will only run better, especially as time goes on and patches and new drivers are released.
