vostov 10 Posted July 6, 2009 Arma 2 crashes and I get a message like this saying: Out of memory (requested 3933 KB) Reserved 294912KB Total Free 15497KB Free blocks 980, Max free size 3462KB Okay, its obvious that I'm having a memory issue here. What do I do to fix this? Game runs quite smooth until this occurs. (it doesn't happen often.. but I do make some rather large battles.. I overbuilt this cpu to do so) Am I simply running out of memory? (Cuz I could fix that..) ---------- Post added at 11:08 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:54 PM ---------- my system specs: 3.2ghz intel i7 cpu quad core 6gigz o' ram 64bit OS 300gigs of memory left (maybe I need a terabyte?) no use for a name 0 Posted July 6, 2009 (edited) try the -maxmem=2047 switch in your shortcut. Also, make sure your page file is working properly Edited July 6, 2009 by No Use For A Name

no use for a name 0 Posted July 6, 2009 no I think that's just for Steam. You'll need to open up steam and go to My games->right click on Arma2->click Set Launch options. then put the -maxmem switch in. to check your page file, right click My Computer->Advanced System settings->Advanced tab->in Performance click Settings->Click advanced tab again, then it will say how big your file is. I'm guessing it's probably set to "let windows decide" and it's ok; but it's always good to check
Ekre 10 Posted July 6, 2009 -maxmem wont help in this situation (im using -maxmem=2047 as well, i have 4 gigs of ram, 8 gigs of page file, on a seperate hdd)

I'm running vista I don't know where to find ''My Computer" yet lol. What file are you talking about when you say: "then it will say how big your file is" Also whats the specific name of this file or folder I need to insert "-maxmem" into? Where exactly does it go within it? I appreciate the help. (I know my cpu isn't running out of memory.. these simulations aren't that big.. and the ones I intend to make.. are going to be 4 times as large.. so I MUST get by this hurdle.. sadly my lack of computer knowledge is making me learn how to fix all of these things on the fly.. which I've fixed quite a bit graphically... now just need to handle this mem problem.) Thanks for your help thus far however. :) ---------- Post added at 01:12 PM ---------- Previous post was at 01:11 PM ---------- found ''my computer'' EDIT I still don't know where this ''how big your file'' thing is? ---------- Post added at 01:13 PM ---------- Previous post was at 01:12 PM ---------- Interesting,I have my pagefile turned off and haven't had any problems. I suspect you have the european version? I dl'd the steam version and I think it just has its own brand of special issues.. though, this might be largely ignorance based superstition.
