Text Chat Issues

Recommended Posts

I don't know about anyone else, but I honestly prefer to type instead of talking.

So locating my chat key in mp, was a priority for me. I found out that the text

chat setup was kind of lazy. I like the multichannel chat system, but the

alignment for the boxes are really messed up. The chat lines cover the actual

box your supposed to type in. Does anyone know where I can find the hpp files

to fix this with? So far, I think these are related:

RscEdit.hpp, RscDisplayChannel, RscDisplayChat, RscChatListBriefing.hpp,

RscChatListDefault.hpp, RscChatListMap.hpp, and RscChatListMission.hpp.

What I did was, put them in the Description.ext for my map, with the

#include<filename>, and made some changed to the y value of alignment for

every one of those files. Didn't change anything. Am I doing something wrong?

Or am I looking in the completely wrong direction? Here is what the game's chat

system looks like for me:

I have removed the changed files from my map directory, along with the

notations to include them. Can anybody help me here?

That actually does the trick. Thanks. I'm only gonna use the chat GUI part

because I'm not interested in the other parts of the mod.

I have the same issue, do we know this has been noted my BI or others ?

You can be 100% sure it's been noted by BIS, considering the number of times it's been mentioned. Quite sure it's added to the bugtracker :)

I'm gonna bump this because I don't feel like search through a 20 page thread list just to

find this problem. The At_Gui chat fix does wonders for me.

But now I'm having a new problem as well. After awhile ingame, I think it begins to think

I use a different language or something. My Y's turn into z's, my a's turn into w's, my

apostrophe's turn into german letters. Even pressing y instead of z comes out as z. I

consider myself to be a pretty good typer, I make typo's here and there like everybody

else, but not this bad. A simple sentence like:

I'm comming to you right now.

turns into:

Iä, comming to zou right nows

I usually can fix it by restarting, but 10 or so minutes into the game, it turns into that

blended rubbish language thing. Is there anyway to fix it besides restarting?

Jman;1354582']Sounds like FADE to me.

And that helps me very little...

I suggest you contact Placebo via PM and ask him if what you are describing is a symptom of FADE - he can ask the right questions to the devs.

*could* also be the language-switch in Windows. I've had trouble with that it sometimes (both in ArmA and WoW) enables English instead of Swedish all of a sudden.

Go into the language settings for Windows and make sure that no other language than that which you want to use exist in the lists at all. If that's not the case I don't really know what the reason is. FADE would be possible, but since I'm not sure exactly what effects FADE can have I dunno.

What about when you type a line you're watch is coming up or the compass or you just walk forward is there also a fix for or not yet?

Yes, I have that problem too. Lol, my watch and compass come up like, 5 times when I'm

typing. Not to mention leaning left and right. You can imagine how silly I look ingame doing

that randomly when I'm trying to type something serious. There needs to be some kind of

blocker or something where when you type, nothing else gets done.

A bit stupid question. I can't get my text chat to work. In the keyboard configuration it says: text chat '' / '' . Should I press ''left shift'' and ''7'' at the same time (it doesen't work)? I don't understand... Sry, if I posted this to the wrong thread, but I didn't want to make another thread because of a question like that. I'd be very thankful, if anyone of You could answer my question.

Thank You!

Edit: Got it working.

text chat '' / ''

Press whatever key you have in place of "/" on this image:

Or simply remap the key to your liking.

... also keys changing to another language is not FADE. It's those stupid Windows shortcuts that are active by default, like press Shift 5 times etc.

Got it working already. I tried to change that key before, but it didn't work. Now it works. Thank you for your help!

Oh yeah. Me too.

I reckon the text stays on the screen too long too. I'd like it to fade quicker.

It didn't work at all well for me. Only 1 line of text is seen and that's right at the bottom of the screen, the rest is offscreen.

Couldn't a smaller font be used?
