For a weapon to be truly "silenced" it must have a suppressor and fire subsonic ammunition, as with the MP5SD's "tick-tick-tick." The crack is only played if the speed is supersonic. It cracks anytime its still over supersonic and once it goes under supersonic it plays a whizz sound. You will notice more whizzes from ricochets, long range AKM fire, and mid range 9mm fire.
