Galaxor444 10 Posted July 1, 2009 So this is probly going to get me more hate than help but I just got ArmA 2 and was so stoked for the MP cuz it's the only true realistic military sim out there. My one problem is I don't know if I am aiming at enemies or friendlies. Is there a tip anyone has to telling the difference between enemies and friendlies, at one point i was aiming at some dude and he started shooting at me so i knew he was an enemy but there must be a better way than waiting to be shot haha. luckypsd 10 Posted July 1, 2009 May sound like too simple an answer but if you are not sure don't take the shot. Watch the direction he is travelling in, weapon he is using, colouring of uniform shape of helmet etc etc. But the most important one... talk to people around and work with them rather than trying to go solo (Not aimed at you or assuming you are doing that.. just an observation)
no use for a name 0 Posted July 2, 2009 really communication is the key. It's best to play on a server with some folk that play serious and work/move as a team; otherwise it's just like every other team deathmatch game out there.
alan.rio 18 Posted July 2, 2009 Well, on the lower difficulty levels pressing space will let you identify targets, other then that you just have to get the jump on em, have that extra second to check their gear, I think the helmets are a good indicator. Antichrist 0 Posted July 2, 2009 Shoot first. Ask questions later.
ReiKuhr 0 Posted July 2, 2009 You'll notice that, once again at lower difficulty levels (or you can just edit the difficulty level) you can modify the situational awareness icons to show. Unknown will show up as a white fuzzy dot/sphere, enemies in red, friendlies in green, and civilians in yellow.
pap 0 Posted July 3, 2009 I believe you can just hold down space for all settings as i used it yesterday on a Foxtrot charlie veteran map and was able to see friendlies with no problems.
jmc007 10 Posted July 3, 2009 Yep just hold space on any settings to reveal friend or foe.
frederf 0 Posted July 3, 2009 I think that only works when you are group lead. The best way to know is to know where your non-hostiles are. If you know that none of your friends is in this space then when someone pops up there you know it's enemy.
Booga 10 Posted July 3, 2009 Just to confirm, you can hover over a player and press space to see there status, this is on all game modes and all difficulties, also you don't need to be a squad leader. Anyone can do it!. One thing to bare in mind tho, if a friendly gets into a enemy vehicle, it will still show a red name, however you will see the players name as well, thus you know a friendly is in it. If there is no player name on the vehicle then it is filled with enemies and kill it fast :) also if you see a vehicle name that is grey that means no one is in it and you may be able to steal it :)
Murphe 0 Posted July 3, 2009 Or you can do it the proper way like LuckyPSD said and learn what the enemy looks like. Now this takes time and you can use the above method to confirm your assessment untill your good at it. You can use this page of Dslyecxi's great guide to help you learn the appearances of the enemy: Dslyecxi's ArmA2 Tactics, Techniques, and Procedures Guide - scroll down to Personnel Identification, but the whole page at least is worth a read.
