Chopper415 0 Posted March 11, 2002 When you sprint as a footsoldier after a while you start breathing really noisily and your aim begins to jump around more and more both from the hip and in ironsights view. I assume this also makes you more readily detectable by the nemeny becuase of the noise. However, is there a limit to your sprint distance or will the guy have a heart attack or what? Also, using the turbo in vehicles - is that unlimited or do you have a set number of seconds of turbo before it has no mroe effect? I can't tell the difference myself

Intruder 0 Posted March 11, 2002 Yup, it's realism. When you run really really fast in real life you start to breathe heavily, and your limbs may feel weak. Try it some time As for the turbo (holding shift key down), I think it's just the soldier putting his foot down on the gas. Shouldn't really slow down unless you run out of fuel or take on more passengers
Chopper415 0 Posted March 11, 2002 Excellent, thanks. I was afraid that as a soldier sprinting too long would eventually cause him to keel over and be unable to move for a few moments until he had caught his breath. Sprinting it is then
R. Gerschwarzenge 0 Posted March 11, 2002 But when you sprint you eventually slow down to the speed of normal running.

When sprinting, you get tired and your spead decreases. When holding sprint key for a long time, your speed is almost the same as when running, but you are unable to speed up when neccessity comes. Conserving your strenght for moments you need is seems to be good tactical choise.
IceFire 0 Posted March 11, 2002 That's strange. I know BIS is trying to appeal to realism. But these are trained soldiers were are talking about. Marines are trained to run uphill for 30 minutes constantly with about 50 pounds on their backs. And this guy can't run for 30 seconds without getting all tired?? Honestly I can do better than that. And I am a untrained civilian 20 year old.
theavonlady 2 Posted March 11, 2002 I smell a FAQ item in the making.
Intruder 0 Posted March 11, 2002 The amount of time they can sprint for increases with skill doesn't it?
Gorgi Knootewoot 0 Posted March 11, 2002 Maybe they are all asmatic soldiers in OFP. Or they might have bricks in their backpacks. Or they have a picture of a nude woman and therefore make that sound.

And I am a untrained civilian 20 year old.<span id='postcolor'> A few months ago I measured the running speed and they all sprint like Ben Johnson. And I have never seen Mr. Johnson running 100m with full battle gear. The soldiers in OFP are apparently using some kind of doping.
IceFire 0 Posted March 11, 2002 Jeez! I just posted, and now already there are like 3 more! What time do you people wake up? It's like 6 am. I just havn't slept yet. Spent the whole night finishing off an assignment due today. Well, the dining hall should open in an hour.

IceFire 0 Posted March 11, 2002 Really? How fast were they moving? And are you talking about Marines, or the soldeirs in the game?
R. Gerschwarzenge 0 Posted March 11, 2002 I can't remember how fast they run and I was talking about the soldiers in OFP. Maybe I'll measure the speeds again.
Intruder 0 Posted March 11, 2002 May be someone should make a stop watch on the watch in the game
R. Gerschwarzenge 0 Posted March 11, 2002 Someone should make a 'Marathon of Everon' mission.
Intruder 0 Posted March 11, 2002 Yeah, where you get chased by angry civies with shot guns because all the roads had to be shut to prepare for the Marathon, and they don't like that
InRange 1 Posted March 11, 2002 And the finish would be in La Trinite, where the winner is awarded with the 'Runner of the Year' award.
turret 0 Posted March 11, 2002 what about a pont to point orientereing series on three of the islands. You could do it with multiplayer and have heats to pick out the best in each country. You could even help kids learn to navigate. They just have to put 50 m height markers on the maps so you no what is up and down.
