longers 10 Posted June 29, 2009 Hi I have played arma 2 up until the start of the manhattan mission and so far i have not been able to give detailed orders to my team. Half of the menu orders such are greyed out and don't give me the opportunity to get them to stay stealthy etc. Do i unlock these abilities later on in the game or do i need to up the difficulty setting to be able to use them ? dvolk 10 Posted June 29, 2009 No and no. The orders should definitely be available. Can you post a screenshot with the relevant menu open?
Beagle 684 Posted June 29, 2009 This has definitely nothing to do with low difficulty setting. There are no features missing in lower settings. There are just less helping features in higher settings.
Surge72 10 Posted June 29, 2009 Detailed orders are given by pressing a number key after opening the communication window by pressing space. Did you try that?
whisper 0 Posted June 29, 2009 You can access the "advanced" (former "normal" in OFP/ArmA1) order menu by knowing by heart the numbers associated with the menus, ie by being a OFP/ArmA1 veteran. Hardly a newcomer friendly way of presenting the game, is it? BI's way are sometimes mysterious :D This game's interface & tutorials are far from accessible
longers 10 Posted June 29, 2009 well for example say i press 7 all the options such as "stealth" "danger" "aware" "safe" are all greyed out and unselectable
Big Dawg KS 6 Posted June 29, 2009 Well, many commands require you to have units selected to issue them to, and if you don't they will be greyed out. Try selecting some units (F1-F12, or ` for all).
whisper 0 Posted June 29, 2009 They should be selectable if, and only if, at least 1 of your team members is selected. Either by a function key (F1 to F10) Or by pressing spacebar to select all Or by pressing spacebar then aiming at one team member and right clicking to select only him Or by pushing the ~ key (left to "1") to select the whole team At very odd times, and rarely, no team member will be selectable, not sure why though, it may be due to the High Command module, I've not yet been able to reproduce, but it's temporary anyway, wait a few seconds and try again (it's very rare)
bonchie 39 Posted June 29, 2009 Gotta select your soldiers first. To give a detailed order to your entire team, for example, you'd press backspace (where you'll see everything grayed out for now), then the "~" key to select your units. All options will be there to use now and will be issued to everyone. Replace the "~" key with the F keys to select and issue indiviual orders. If you select your team first it'll bring up the other simple command options. Things like move there, stop, etc.
