MP Co-Op Campaign - Saving Issues

Recommended Posts

I was playing the SP Co-Op Campaign with 3 friends tonight, for many, many hours. We ran into a few issues.

On the 4th mission, Red somethin another, it bugged out after we loaded a save and was unable to be completed, until we started all over.

On the mission after where it goes all freeform, everything was great until one of us was shot. We loaded the save, and everyone was not connected right to eachother. I was driving our Humvee, two passengers saw me driving it sort of right, but the gunner saw us as standing still.

This happened again. And again. And again. The only way to get around it was to not load saves, and to completely restart the missions if one of us died or anything went wrong.

So I ask this : Are we supposed to be able to load saves in Multiplayer? Because from my experience tonight, it's absolutely not working as intended, in fact, it's breaking the game for us. Everytime someone gets killed from 300m away by an AI shooting through bushes that we can't see, it sets us back 30 minutes to an hour of doing the SAME stuff over and over again.

Even if it could be set up so that we could respawn back at the base camp on the longer freeform missions, or anything like that it would be fine. But having to load a save is making this game unplayable.

COOP is one the things I'm looking forward to this game. I'm still just stuck with the demo, but they'd better fix the COOP saves for the full game if they want my damn money!

I agree.

There is also a massive amount of network lag when restarting a reloaded save game everytime, but when we start fresh and not reload a save from were we got killed, everything overall seems fine.

This mode is fun though.

My friend and I have been struggling to complete the Manhattan mission for 3 days now because of this game breaking bug.

nmri,

I experienced the same thing last night for 6 hours. My buddy would hang at the loading screen whenever we had to restart a mission. It sometimes work as intended, but in Bitter Chill fx it never works.

we have had no problems with loading a save coop game.

Our problem is that you only save the game when you leave, there should be an option to save when you like, and to store that.

A friend and me tried Co-op of Manhatten over internet connection. Everytime one of us died we had to start over.. And if we didn´t feel like waiting for 10 minutes for the savegame to load then too bad... restart the whole thing again... including all the dialogs (which get REALLY ANNOYING after hearing it for the 10th time).

in short:

It DOESN`T WORK PROPERLY IN CO-OP!!

Please fix load times (10 minutes is NOT acceptable... for a bought and paid for game)

Please fix unstopable dialogs

Yeah, trying to load a previous saved state in the CoopCampaign on this game i such an oddissey.

Sometimes it can work, but there's a high percentage to get the game bugged or it to doesn't even load. Seriously, at first i didn't mind it that much, but with missions like Manhattan, it's so frigging tedious to complete all those objectives without dying, because you know that if one of you dies, you'll need to start the entire mission all over again.

I hope they fix that soon because the campaign it's actually so freaking cool, and it's a shame that just for that bug it turns to a pain to play.

Pweeeeease bohemia fix this ******* ****!!1!11!!!one!!º

I'll let you in on a secret - the cheats that work in singleplayer also apply to the coop campaign. So if a mission isn't ending/progressing you can skip it using the endmission cheat, for example.

yeah, that might be cool for some people, you know...

but i didn't pay for a game that i actually like a lot, to have to cheat for advance to the next damn mission... because that's not how it works man.

they should fix it, and then everyone happy playing this amazing game without any serious issue.

Someone should make a modded campaign (best solution would be BIS itself) that's intended for multiplayer. I mean, perhaps a respawn instead of in-mission save games. Then, if host is experiencing terrible performance drop, then some modules like Ambient Civilians, Ambient Animals etc. should be disabled to make game more lag-free.

Alright so, my friend and me were checking about the game load issues and we figured something out.

We were sharing the save game archives in the game folder located at My Documents, and we even were able to load eachother's saved game as the server, but keeping always the same character as before (for example player one hosts, so he automatically is Cooper, and player two joins and picks O'hara for example, so with the savegame archives from the host, player 2 can host the same game at the same point it was saved before being O'hara instead of automatically being Cooper as ussual).

But, no matter who hosts always the the client (the one whos not the server) will get this error "ERROR: MPF_rCREATETASKSET calls fails - BIS_missionScope is nil" and his, i don't know how to call it, the objectives screen, gets corrupted and shows like the "key name" of the mission, something like obj followed by the key word of the mission (for example: objGorka, or objLagushina or whatever her name was). And this ends with the mission entirely bugged for the client, who will be unable to see or accomplish any objective by himself.

So we guessed that there's a bug when saving the game, something like it doesn't save the game properly for the client. It looks like it takes a lot directly from the single player campaign, and this may end saving the states only for the "player 1".

We hope some of the guys from BIS could find this helpful and, of course, try to solve that bug. Thanks

My group (as much as we've played campaign coop, I actually went to play domination and Hold but it's still fun) thinks of it as a hardcore difficulty where you really gotta make sure you don't die. Sure it's kinda lame to have this issue but I'm actually not bothered a lot by it.

Been playing the coop campaign with two other guys and after failing a mission (=dying) twice or so the save game seems to revert to the beginning of the mission. This happened in one of the early missions and in Manhattan after two and a half hours of playing. Is this a feature or a bug?

It's deleting the autosave files on the second time you die, which suggests to me that this isn't a bug but the way it's designed. I could be wrong on that. Would be good to have a choice, we play in this manner or we want to keep the auto saves in the same way as it keeps it in the SP.

I've started opening the folder where these autosaves have been going and making a copy of them so that they are not totally lost. It means shutting the game down to put them back and restarting but it's quicker than going round all the AI characters and listening to all the speel again before getting back up to the point we would be before.

Same issue here. A friend and I have completely given up trying the coop campaign. Unfortunately, this is the entire reason we bought the game, and we are both extremely disappointed in the quality. Why did we pay $50 to beta test this thing?

I can understand small bugs, but did nobody bother trying one of their most publicized features? Not being able to load a save in a game that has more fatalities from bad pilots than enemy gunfire is a bad thing.

Please fix the loading issue. I can live with bugs if we can actually resume when the game kills us with a said bug.

How is everyone's coop saves experience with 1.03 now? My group seems to have a problem with unlocking the next mission if we play from saves. We can't unlock next missions unless we play the current mission in one instance.

Same here we managed to get to DoW but it doesn't save at all in MP?? It's just too long to do in one go, even if you could we don't want to have to rush through just to do it in one sitting.

OH MY GOD! Patch v1.04 turned this awful game into pure comedy, and then quickly into absolute frustration. A friend and mine tried to play the campaign tonight, and this is what transpired.

A) patch 1.04 erased all current campaign missions - We issued a collective moan as we realized that we would be suffering through all of the heli-crashing, desynching fun again.

B) Being forced to restart, we attempted the starting carrier mission three times, all unsuccessfully. This is what happened each time.

1) We were unable to talk to the commander to proceed. Oh well, decided to try again.

2) Same issue as before, no guy to talk to. We ended up shooting each other out of pure frustration and we were forced to start over.

3) During the masterfully annoying turn out the lights cutscene, my character got up and decided to walk directly at the screen....on his own. He became disloged in the corner, and when I got him out, the main door to the room wouldn't open. My friend managed to get the back door open, and while he couldn't talk to the bridge guard, he was able to put his hands behind his head uncomfortably close to his face.

Oh well, at least getting stuck right at the beginning saved us some time in the long run. I feel bad having bought two retail copies. I should've saved up for duke nukem forever.
