This looks amazing, what do I need to run it?

Recommended Posts

After discovering this game, I was amazed by the realism and scope of the game. I've been looking into a new computer, and was wondering which would be the best that would let me run ArmA 2 at good settings. If you guys could help me out it'd be greatly appreciated.

I found three computers that seem good:

1) http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=4408234&CatId=1886

2) http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=4420138&CatId=1886

3) http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=4662412&csid=ITD&body=MAIN#detailspecs

my budget is anything below $750 - $800. any other suggestions for computers are welcome.

I just want to run the game at med-high settings if that's possible.

so... which should I get?

You could building a tower for $750 that would include an HD 4890, probably blow those computers away.

Basicaly I'm saying, none of those computers are very good.

You should really post this in the system specifications discussion thread.

Out of those computers I would recommend the last one, though you may be better off with a fast dual core instead of a lower clocked quad. Unless you want to overclock it. :)

EDIT: Like POTS said, building the computer yourself will probably get you more bang for your buck.

+1 Build it mate, you'll get alot more for your money, it's fun to learn, and you'll be able to overclock if you wish. With everyone going goo-goo-gaga over the new i7's, you can score big on the 'older' duo's/quads, ddr2 mem and mobo's.

*facepalm how did I not see that thread, I'll remember that for the future

and I'm not sure I want to take up the task of building a computer, though I've heard it's not that hard. I'll look to a couple of my friends for help building it, sounds fun

in any case, would any of those rigs be able to run ArmA 2 at med settings at least?

thanks for the help

Check out the ArmaII Mark thread below to gather intel on which builds do the best. It's really hard to tell what those systems would do, they look like lower-mid range builds and alot has to do with optimizing and for me at least, overclocking. My first mark was like 2600 and now it sits right below 4000 after some little tweaks. Most pre-made systems have generic mobo's that don't allow overclocking of any kind.

There are companies that builds it for you too. Just choose the components.
