cavemanic 10 Posted June 11, 2009 Hi I'm loosing my faith here. I've reinstalled arma several times and usually after new install I'm able to play ARMA normally. But again today arma2.exe just totally freezes and takes 50% cpu and 12,6Mb of memory. I've tried to disable my virus scanner but that didn't help. 12 hours ago it all worked just well. maddogx 13 Posted June 11, 2009 12 hours ago it all worked just well. That begs the question: what did you change in the last 12 hours? Something must have happened to make Arma2 stop working.
cavemanic 10 Posted June 11, 2009 That begs the question: what did you change in the last 12 hours? Something must have happened to make Arma2 stop working. No idea. Sometimes the game won't start even after the first successful start after fresh install.
cavemanic 10 Posted June 13, 2009 (edited) I still can't start the game. I've removed securom and tried with version 1.0 and with 1.01. With and without virus scanner. I've tried in xp compatibility mode. I have installed it on different hdds but it just won't start. I'm lost here. It worked for a week and now nothing. Guess how pissed I am. no use for a name 0 Posted June 14, 2009 have you updated your drivers for you soundcard? sometimes they can cause issues with games
rowdied 44 Posted June 14, 2009 Vista32 sp2, 2gb, 8800gt 186.08 drivers, Core2Duo E6750 and integrated soundcard. Try rolling back your drivers to say 182 or earlier, and run some anti virus/spam software too to make sure.
cavemanic 10 Posted June 14, 2009 Nvidia driver rollback didn't help. Soundcard drivers for P5K mobo are old but I did reinstall them anyway. Nothing changed :(
cavemanic 10 Posted June 14, 2009 From securom support http://www.securom.com/support_enduser.asp?t=2&ts1=11 OTHER PROBLEMS:No error message - The game doesn't start at all or game process hangs (consumes up to 100% CPU load in the task manager). This failure could be caused by a software conflict. Please send a SecuROMâ„¢ analysis file to support@securom.com (see "Support Info" section on how to do that). Too bad I can't even create analysis file.
cavemanic 10 Posted June 20, 2009 I give up. Too bad securom killed my fun. Securom support send me a program that was suppose to help me create an analysis file for them but that didn't work. They even send me modified arma2.exe but didn't work either. F* this.
UsesTactics 10 Posted June 22, 2009 I am a UK user who cannot get the game to run at all after first, second, third installation etc. I've emailed 505 Games customer support we'll see what they suggest. I'm intalling it for the fourth time now. Has anyone else had the same problem and a solution? I have noticed the intallation does hang a bit with "(not responding)" on the window. But eventually it does finish and puts the game icon on the desktop. I click the icon and then a windows message "ArmA 2 has stopped working" appears. No joy. I've been looking forward to this game and I'm very disappointed :-( 2GB RAM Intel Core 2 6400 2.13GHz Vista 32bit Nvidia GTX 8800

This is the first time I had any problems with any protection software. Too bad it had to be ARMA. :butbut:
UsesTactics 10 Posted June 23, 2009 I am pleased to say that I found a solution to my problem. And luckily it wasn't Sims 3. I extracted the 1.02 patch (using Vista right click> Extract) and the patch installed successfully. Then the game would run. Fairly straightforward after all. I hope this patch works for you too. I can naturally extract the self-extracting file containing folder DXredistMar2009 and the file ARMA2Patch_1_02.exe, but are you saying you extracted this final exe file which is the actual patcher and you didn't need to run patcher at all?
