BIKI: Lock wait timeout exceeded.

Recommended Posts

What happened to the BIKI? It's not usable anymore when logged on. Every request is answered with an:

Database error

A database query syntax error has occurred. This may indicate a bug in the software. The last attempted database query was:

(SQL query hidden)

from within function "MediaWikiBagOStuff::_doinsert". MySQL returned error "1205: Lock wait timeout exceeded; try restarting transaction (localhost)".

Am I the only guy having that problem?

Same experience here since a couple of days  Not good with all the new Arma 2 material that I need to study.

The A2 content is probably all WIP like 24x7 these days so there won't be an offline version for a forseeable timeframe either :(

Seems fine for me? Can you post step by step what you're trying and what's not working?

Same problem here since a few days.

Sometimes it's working great at all but otherwise getting the error the most time.

example (at the moment):

http://community.bistudio.com/wiki/Talk:PEW_File_Format

can access it without login without any problem, but when logged-in I can't access it.

http://community.bistudio.com/wiki/nearEntities

can't access it at all (at least at the moment) but the diff between this article and an older version is working.

createUnit isn't working diff is working.

(all examples at the moment)

Ok I passed the link on to this thread and hopefully it can be looked into soon :)

Step by step:

1. Try to access a random page at the BIKI.

:D

Sometimes it's working, other times I get the error message posted above. The function varies - _doinsert, _doquery, etc - but the reason stays the same: "Lock wait timeout exceeded".

For me it seems i cannot access any commands entries... the lists are fine though, but clicking on one command will bring the mentioned errorMsg...

1. Open Firefox

2. Click Bookmark to Biki

3. Click Commands List (all commands listed fine)

4. Click some command

5. Errormsg as above stated (no matter if Arma/ArmaII or VBS2 Commands!)

PS:

For time being

http://www.arma2.com/comref/comref.html

works still fine... btw .. download to local place to get best speed! ;)

Also had it, the Biki is moving to a new server to hopefully ease the issues, traffic for ArmA2 has gone through the roof apparently, guess gamers got tired of all those sterile corridor shooters finally ;)

Err we didn't fix anything ;) Apparently we'll be moving it to a new server Monday afternoon, so that means it'll be down for a while :)

Haha, maybe the old server got a bit scared and decided to work again? :p

Looking good, will observe for a couple of more days. Seems extremly fast now on my end.

EDIT: just read about the monday migration date :) Funny, looks like the biggest community (must be Germany) is giving this server a break these days. Could be due to the bank holiday this Thursday where lots of folks take off the Friday as well (and not necessarily to study the comref :) ).

Thanks,

VictorFarbau

Either way, it gave us an opportunity to witness the placebo effect :) Any news about the migration already? Biki still seems to work fine, never had problems anymore after that complaint...

Cheers,
