Uziyahu--IDF 0 Posted June 2, 2009 The sonic crack of bullets should ONLY be played when it passes near the PLAYER's "ears". It should NOT be played it when it passes anyone else's "ears". The exception is in multi-player, when "anyone else" might be another player, in which case the sonic crack should only be played for THAT player when it passes his "ears". The bullet doesn't have a mind of its own, knowing to make a sonic crack whenever it passes human ears. For anyone other than human players, invisible programming code should cause the A.I. soldiers/civilians/animals to REACT in some fashion to the sonic cracks. Would like to hear more ricocheting sounds, as bullets that have bounced off of surfaces "tumble" through the air.
Darkseed79 0 Posted July 10, 2009 I can't believe this thread got overlooked. This is IMHO of absolute priority. You should be able to use the bullet cracks (and they need to be LOUD) to know when to keep your head down. As it is now they have pretty much no point whatsoever. Please BIS, fix this asap! galzohar 31 Posted July 10, 2009 I heard loud M24 7.62 supersonic cracks IRL even when the bullet was hitting a pre-defined target ~30m away from me. Wasn't a lot less loud when the bullet was flying 2~3 meters above me. It's not something you hear only when it passes right next to you, unlike what movies might make you belive. no use for a name 0 Posted July 11, 2009 agreed. I pulled targets on a firing range, and you could still hear the cracks from a target 100+ feet away almost like it was right over your head. In fact they told us to not listen for the crack, but watch the dirt behind your target so you knew when it was hit
Uziyahu--IDF 0 Posted July 12, 2009 You've completely misunderstood my post. What I was saying was that the sonic crack plays FOR THE PLAYER when the bullet passes by the ears of other distant soldiers (even A.I.). I'm not sure if it has been patched since the time of my post. Whether the sonic crack sound effect plays or not should only be dependent on the position of the bullet to the PLAYER'S ears. galzohar 31 Posted July 12, 2009 Are you 100% sure that the sound only plays when the bullet passes any player? If you want I can host an editor mission on hamachi where we can test this. If it's true then it's indeed very dumb and should be fixed....
Uziyahu--IDF 0 Posted July 12, 2009 I only have the demo.
