1.30 install problems, not related to below

Recommended Posts

I downloaded 1.30 patch from 3 different sites, and unzip it using PKunzip, and the application just wont run.

after trying several times, i downloaded 1.29, that installed fine, and i retried to install 1.30 and the application still will not run. my mouse curser turns into an hourglass for just a second, but nothing happens. ive also rebooted many times and retried

Slow down. First of all, if you upgraded from 1.29 to 1.30, you don't have a clean install.

Second, does the OFP lanner logo appear when you start OFP?

Third, have you browsed through The FAQ's INSTALLATION and TROUBLESHOOTING sections?

first of all, i tried to install from 1.20 i think it is, i have the american version, THEN i tried 1.29.

second and third, yes.

its not that the patch is giving me an error, the application(exefile) just will not run.

Also, going from 1.29 to 1.30 is not a clean upgrade. While some people might be able to live with this, the results are unpredictable.

Should you decide to reinstall from scratch, search The FAQ for "reinstall".

No... you misunderstand... OFP is NOT the problem, and your faq doesnt list this... its the patch itself, i unzip it, but i cant run the exe file. it just doesnt do anything. i dont need a 'clean install' and reinstalling OFP doesnt do anything

When you run the patch, does the OFP logo display and that's it or you don't even get the OFP logo?

If the logo displays, then this might be similar to the two FAQ items I refered you to earlier. Just a hunch.

Yep, Ultimate Upgrade 3 is copy-protected. So put in your *Original-CD*.

i got the 2.9 patch and it installed just fine

There *seem* to be issues when applying the 1.30 patch and Safedisc not recognizing the CD as reported a couple of times. Since i never had problems updating with my drive (Pioneer DVD) I was unaware of these. Anyway most posts sounded like ways to copy the game and did not even mention "original cd" or "can't get my recently purchased copy updated".

To all legal customers: I apologize smile.gif
