BeerHunter 0 Posted May 12, 2009 Searched but couldn't find anything so here it is.. I'm using voice activation software with ArmedA 1 because I find its a whole lot easier to say "squad - get out" or "Tom,Dick,Harry (I named my bots :D) move" into the mic than find and select the menu commands. This requires the menu items to be assigned to keys , not hard coded (ala BF2 and apparently OFPDR pop up radial menus) as the software assigns your voice commands to the specific key strokes. Wondering if ArmedA 2 will be using key assignments similar to ArmedA 1 or if they are going hard coded menus ala BF2?
lecholas 2 Posted May 12, 2009 It's been confirmed that Arma will not have native support of voice recognition but commanding menus are designed with compatibility with voice recognition programs in mind. How will it look like we have to wait and see for ourselves.

sparks50 0 Posted May 12, 2009 I think you are mixing expressions here. Voice activation is traditionally when the microphone is transmitting only when you talk, in for example Teamspeak or Ventrilo.
BeerHunter 0 Posted May 12, 2009 Don't think so because the software is called "Voice Activated Commands" or VAC for short. The mic can be voice activated (let on and commands issued when you talk) or controlled by a button press.
sparks50 0 Posted May 12, 2009 You didn't write "Commands" in the title.
Red_Barron 0 Posted May 13, 2009 Wondering if ArmedA 2 will be using key assignments similar to ArmedA 1 or if they are going hard coded menus ala BF2? By all accounts of previous footage, the developers have said that the command system has been improved upon (with regards to ordering your squad), but the same old "complex" system is still available. I'm sure you will be able to use your voice recognition software in the same manner as in Arma1. Hell, when Arma2 comes out I might try it on for size myself. I rarely play SP Arma any more, but the new High Command system in Arma2, and the fact that I actually want to play the campaign, VAC sounds much nicer than point and click.
