Vehicle animations?

Recommended Posts

I just wonder if riding inside vehicles won't be as dull as it is in Arma 1.

In arma 1 everything seems very smooth, so unless you actually look out the window, you will get 0 feeling of moving across any kind of terrain. For example, when riding in the back of a truck, if you don't look at the opening on the back (assume it has a roof) you will feel as if you were in a room that makes an engine sound. Soldiers sitting in the truck don't shake at all either, so that's also a bit odd. I hope arma 2 redefines this, I consider it very fun simply riding in a truck and getting the feel of being inside one.

It would be neat to link the animations to the suspension somehow so you get what they call 'overlapping action', but I wouldn't expect anything too too different.

Most modern games do it. It would be sad if Arma 2 didnt. :(

The word 'sad' is thrown around a lot on these forums. I think maybe people should use less hyperbole or perhaps seek psychiatric help.

Basically I think the way to go here is to assume that it's exactly the same as ArmA 1 in this regard.

Yes and its about getting from point A to point B and its made in a good way IMO thinking of shocks/dampers etc. You compare ArmA to "all other games", but ArmA is a simulator and not "all other games". In the videos it looks the same. Even though the no-auto-center steering should be improved and i think it is as it was introduced in the ArmA 1.16b patch.

It gets the job done and it isnt that bad. I think people whining about wanting everything will also be the ones whining when their computers cant run the program as it has everything in it...

I'm not whining. I'm only asking if there will be these, because I like them. If there's not fine, I can deal with it, unlike some 10 year old kids who get pissed off over every thing a game would miss or just not have implemented even for a reason.

I don't know why everyone assumes of what I say differently.

EDIT: By the way, will the entering/exiting vehicle animations be created? They're absent in Arma 1. Of course this isn't important either, but it could be a nice touch. Also useful for making films.

I agree with Litos, even though he sounds like he could use a hug lol j/k

Many times I feel the experiance of riding any vehicle has been down played, which effects me alot cause of my addons. I always love watch COPS and seeing the camera shake when the Police Officer floors the gas pedal to that V8 beast under the hood of a Ford Crown Victoria!

But as easy as it is to say that BIS should improve on this, addon makers should experiament with the damper animation source and linking that to an animation of the driver and passanger proxy. That's what I'm going to do. There's so much you can do with the animation sources.

Hi, about the vehicles and the animations... i think that will be a very good thing if the units

that tripp as cargo, had the rifle between the hands, with the stock on the vehicle's floor

and not in the back as we've 'em now in the ArmA; just check how the units have their

weapons in the URAL cabin... the SVD or the PKM passes throug the cabin's roof and have

the weapons in the back also difficults to scann for hostiles, plus the fact that no one will

have his/her rifle in the back when they are in a vehicle other than those with SMGs or

compact/subcompact weapons, that then they'll most likely have 'em crossed on the chest

aiming down, if they don't have anyone at the barrel's side, that then, they'll have to

have the weapon aiming up in the same way than the rest or then be kicked from the

vehicle and walk all the way home. Let's C ya

I would also like to see the vehicle interiors modelled like they were in OFP...

I think that it is "sad" that they weren't included in ARMA :P

They made you feel like you were in a real tank, and not behind some magical floating camera
