mgear 10 Posted May 3, 2009 Ok, I installed the demo for Arma, to see how I like the game. When I click the icon for starting it up, my computer just flat out freezes, the mouse, keyboard, everything, wont move. Forcing me to restart my computer. It also disabled my Fire Fox addons. Specs: Vista Home Premium sp.1 6 gigs of ram Radeon 3850 512mb Core 2 Duo rated at 3.00 GH/z Does anyone know the problem?
.kju 3245 Posted May 4, 2009 Better no try the A1 demo. It is very much outdated and of bad quality. Either pick up the full game, patch to 1.16 and look into MODs and addons or wait for the A2 demo.

I am looking forward for ArmA two to come out, but for now, does A1 have x64 support?
W0lle 1052 Posted May 4, 2009 ArmA1 works under Vista x64 with the latest patches installed. However there is no 64bit executable, neither for ArmA nor for ArmA2.

desertjedi 3 Posted May 4, 2009 (edited) It also disabled my Fire Fox addons. Did it break your dishwasher too? :D j/kWith the game, you get the benefit of the patches. With the demo you don't. But there is always the possibility that whatever is stopping the demo from working might prevent the game from working. Arma Gold is now about $10 on ebay and newegg. Arma (non-Gold) can be had for much cheaper. Just fyi. After I played the Arma demo, I swore off the game and wouldn't even consider it for another year, year and a half. Now, I'm a CAA - closet Arma addict. Maybe if you asked some questions about the gameplay, that might be useful. I'm not sure spending time troubleshooting the demo on Vista would prove productive. I usually refer friends to Arma vids like this one to get a feel for the game. And there are a million others on Youtube. I have scanned with Spybot S&D, im clean. Add "Anti-Malware", the app from www.malwarebytes.org and you'll be totally rockin'! Edited May 4, 2009 by DesertJedi

Every game on steam works just fine.
