zedderzulu 7 Posted February 26, 2009 What I'd really like to see is the ability to pick and choose which factions will be allied when making a user mission, so that maybe even Russia and the US may be on the same side on occasion, but really it could allow any combination possible, like is already seen in various flight simulators, such as LO:MAC. It could allow the possibility to create entirely new independent factions, such as other NATO countries with their own structure, faces and voices, or maybe this neighbouring "Takistan" whose allegiance might float either way. What I'd actually be disappointed to see is USMC and CDF both automatically falling under a single "BLUFOR" side, both Russia and the ChDKZ making up the "OPFOR" side, and NAPA being the fleeting "RESISTANCE", so we still only really have four sides (including the Civilians). I think that will leave things too black and white. Also I think even the Civilians need to be diverse - if you have to know Chernarussian and Russian to keep the civilians happy and able to talk to you, if Team Razor find themselves much further north they might be surrounded by ethnic Russian civilians, who I think should have a noticeably different attitude than ethnic Chernarussians. The ethnic Russians would probably be more suspicious of Team Razor, and may even be willing to betray them to the ChDKZ. If you can win the ethnic Russians around, the drop in support for the ChDKZ would be huge. I'm probably reading too far into it though.

The_Captain 0 Posted February 26, 2009 From what I saw from earlier videos, there's a side dropdown in the editor, and a faction dropdown. USMC and CDF are the factions under blufor, and CHDkZ and Russia are the factions for OPFOR. Civilian and Resistance just have the Civilian and NAPA factions, respectively. I'm glad they're sticking with the four sides. Now all my if (_side == west) || (_side == east) code will still work. Edit: Russia =! Ussr.
Raphier 0 Posted February 26, 2009 From what I saw from earlier videos, there's a side dropdown in the editor, and a faction dropdown. USMC and CDF are the factions under blufor, and CHDkZ and USSR are the factions for OPFOR. Jesus Christ, I don't know why people still use USSR, this term died 1989 along with the communism in russia.
Commando84 0 Posted February 26, 2009 oh :P I wouldn't have minded if they had 6 sides :P could have made for easy to setup big scale awesome scenarios with many factions fighting eachother But well the extra content still seen from videos of the editor in action at GC is still promising with all the extras Hope they have put in some new stuff for the editor interface and maybe some scripts that can be activated default with a drop down menu Like respawn, custom sounds ect.. spawning a.i teams and stuff like that. sparks50 0 Posted February 26, 2009 I hope all sides can be hostile to each other if set so in the editor. Reminds me of Command and conquer type of games, 5 factions in team deathmatch

Just group them with a unit from the side you want them allied to, make that unit the highest rank so he is leader. Drag the "probability of presence" slider for this unit all the way to zero and he wont spawn. Now that squad will be on the side of the guy that is shown as leader in the editor, while the second highest ranking guy will be leader in the actual mission and the first guy wont even appear. That's been possible since Operation Flashpoint
Lou Montana 101 Posted February 26, 2009 That's been possible since Operation Flashpoint Yup, this had me once when i gave an east leader to civilians... they shot me

When you want to setup some more irregular combinations of forces and sides in say multiplayer for an example..
