Mic not working w/ ingame voice

Recommended Posts

Hi guys,

I have been having problems with my mic in ArmA. It works 100% of the time with Vent and TS but in ArmA it only works about 30% of the time. It's really frustrating not to be able to call out targets or reliably respond to squadmates or SL's. Does anyone have any idea what might cause this? The connector on the back of my sound card stopped working a while ago so i had to use the second connection on the front of the box. Could this have anything to do with it. The card is a Creative X-Fi extreme music.

Why not stick with Ventrilo or TS? I doubt many people use the in-game voice in MP so I don't think you'll get much feedback on this.

It may be that you have to open the ports necessary for VoIP. I don't know them off of the top of my head. I think you should open ports 2301 - 2305 or something, but someone else will know better. Also, searching might find you the answer.

Now that I recall, I had a similar problem - not with Arma per se. I thought I'd get clever and hook up the front case connectors to the mic connector on the X-Fi XtremeGamer's PCB. It worked for a little while and then never worked again.

I'm not sure what internet provider you have or what your location is.

It could be your ISP is blocking the Voip port that Arma is using.

That would be one of the last options to think of, first is to find out what Voip ports Arma is using and open those in your Router/modem.

Sounds like you're saying your Creative jack took a dump so you are using the jack on the front right? So how is the jack connected?

If it's connected to the Creative then you have to check through Creatives Volume icon settings in the bottom right. Double click the icon and then set everything to Default by clicking the Default button. Then click the Settings button and hunt for the external or front jack settings.

If it's not connected through the Creative card then poop. Anyways go to the Windows Volume Icon in the bottom right. Right click and select Recording Devices. Check that the Front jack is Default. For some reason this used to switch sometimes, I think when I restart the computer. Also Creative totally cut out and I would have to do the Default deal to re-initialize it. But I don't have problems anymore and I totally don't remember what fixed it. Maybe a driver update? I dunno.
