Bucic 1 Posted February 15, 2009 I realize that it's already too late but check this out OpenAL + EFX on a forum If ArmA 2 will be a similar sound mess like ArmA 1 is then be sure I will make suitable information campaign about the fact. I don't have a Futachi integrated 12.1 soundcard to accept that I can't get ArmA working. I use audigy SB0090 to be clear. While we at it - are there any specific info on ArmA 2 sound API? Dwarden 1124 Posted February 15, 2009 well ArmA 2 is supposed to bring new and reworked sound engine btw. that forum is ultra outdated ... many games today don't use OpenAl at all they use other 'middleware API' which offer them access to EAX and EAXHD if they need be it e.g. Miles Sound System http://www.radgametools.com/miles.htm FMOD http://www.fmod.org/ BASSmod http://www.un4seen.com/bass.html or many smaller projects like OpenAl wrappers http://www.lukasheise.com/web_res/freesl.html ofc there are many i forgot to add .. also take in mind there is newer OpenAL available than on public OpenAl website ... v 2.2.0.
Bucic 1 Posted February 15, 2009 @Dwarden: What do you mean this forum is outdated? Can you point me to the more up-to-date one? Completely new sound engine doesn't mean switching to other API. For now there is no clear information about ArmA 2 sound API I know of. To be honest - I don't think there is such info on ArmA 1 sound API either! According to Armaholic it's OpenAL (ArmA 1), but what EAX option is doing in the options then? I use OpenAL 2.2.0.6 from Creative drivers :P And I'm still unable to get ArmA (and ArmA only) to work  I hope ArmA 2 will be more friendly to non-Creative sound cards as Creative is getting more and more audacious with their drivers/support policy. Dwarden 1124 Posted February 15, 2009 well the post you linked to is lil outdated by todays terms ... anyway which CL drivers got OpenAl 2.2.0.6 because latest i'm aware of was: Quote[/b] ]OpenAL DLL 6.14.0357.23 Creative OpenAL DLL 6.00.01.1368-2.18.2050 Wrapper DLL 2.2.0.5 and that one wasn't even released on OpenAl site
Bucic 1 Posted February 15, 2009 The fact remains: ArmA 1 - no clarification ArmA 2 - no info at all About current version status for OpenAL please check http://www.flashpoint1985.com/cgi-bin....1325292

max power 21 Posted February 16, 2009 I had an audigy 2 zx on my old machine and the sound was fine. My new one with an on-board sound card also works fine.
Bucic 1 Posted February 16, 2009 Your input would suggest that my case is not common. Going through various forums and topics says otherwise. I'm still curious what would be the ArmA 2 sound API.
