Zelete 0 Posted November 25, 2008 Hello. Whenever I click on multiplayer --> host session --> LAN --> create (so I haven't even chosen a map yet) ArmA crashes to the desktop with the following error: Quote[/b] ]File spect\spectating.hpp, line 0: '.and': 's' encountered instead of '=' It also crashes when I try to join any other multiplayer server. There it downloads the mission and it crashes at about 99% of the progress bar. What I have tried to resolve the problem: - started without addons (vanilla ArmA) - deleted MPMissionsCache (everything) - deleted ArmA.cfg and the .ArmAProfile (C:\Users\Zelete\Documents\ArmA) - deleted arma.RPT and arma.bidmp (C:\Users\Zelete\AppData\Local\ArmA) I also have the contents of arma.RPT after I deleted it and started the game once to make it crash: <table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0"><tr><td>Code Sample </td></tr><tr><td id="CODE">===================================================================== == H:\Armed\arma.exe ===================================================================== Exe version: Sun Nov 23 22:44:53 2008 build 1.14.5256 Item STR_03s01 listed twice Updating base class ->Default, by ca\anims\characters\config.bin/CfgMovesBasic/DefaultDie/ Updating base class ->Default, by ca\anims\characters\config.bin/CfgMovesMaleSdr/States/Crew/ File Dialogs\RecruitSoldierDialog.hpp, line 32: '/RAI9_RecruitSoldierDialog/RAI9_Background.h': Missing ';' at the end of line File Dialogs\RecruitSoldierDialog.hpp, line 41: '/RAI9_RecruitSoldierDialog/RAI9_Frame.h': Missing ';' at the end of line File Dialogs\Support.hpp, line 32: '/SPI9_RecruitSoldierDialog/SPI9_Background.h': Missing ';' at the end of line File Dialogs\Support.hpp, line 41: '/SPI9_RecruitSoldierDialog/SPI9_Frame.h': Missing ';' at the end of line Error context peed _bird < 1}; ErrorMessage: File spect\spectating.hpp, line 0: '.and': 's' encountered instead of '=' I don't know what to do I have a fresh installed Vista 64 bit with SP1. .kju 3245 Posted November 25, 2008 look for a folder or file (.pbo) called spect on your complete HDD
Zelete 0 Posted November 25, 2008 I cannot find any files related to ArmA having search for *spect* with hidden files and folders on. Both on C: and my complete games drive. Weird isn't it EDIT: I can play single player and in the mission editor without any problems by the way.
-Total- 0 Posted November 25, 2008 The spect is a file folder inside the mission pbo file. spectator.hpp is inside that file. Are you running a legal copy of ArmA?
Zelete 0 Posted November 25, 2008 I'm running a legal copy yes. But its strange that it crashes without even selecting a mission. Anyway, I even tried running with an empty MP mission cache folder and only the original missions. I installed ArmA about 2 days ago so it's still fresh and clean (and runs smoothly in SP). I recon it has something to do with Kegetys Spectating Script, I found a thread but sadly I don't speak French very well. http://www.arma-fr.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=3202&mode=linear
-Total- 0 Posted November 25, 2008 I gotta ask the other obvious question - you did update to 1.14 right? Â
xeno 234 Posted November 25, 2008 That has nothing todo with the MP mission cache folder. A host or dedicated server uses the missions in ArmA\MPMissions. So you have a mission with a description or config error in this folder. Xeno
Zelete 0 Posted November 25, 2008 Yes First installed 1.05 then 1.08 then 1.14 EDIT: Ha! I think I sorted it out by what Xeno said. I think the problem was EvolutionR2.Sara.pbo which was still in the main ArmA MPMissions folder. I can host missions again. But that isn't the real problem though. I was joining my own server (which I have played on with a few buddies already). Hope it works by letting ArmA download a new copy of Evolution. Let's see... Zelete 0 Posted November 25, 2008 I fixed it. I was running a new ArmA installation, and apparently you can't join an Evolution mission in progress to download it? I downloaded a new version from the original thread and there was a file in there I didn't have yet: EvolutionR.Sara_dbe1.pbo. Maybe it was because of this. Thanks for all the help!
